About Me

First off, you can call me Jester. Everyone pretty much has since the 4th grade. Maybe I will tell you my real name If I get to know you. I always hate filling things like this out because there is so many strange quirks and kinks to me that are difficult to put into words. I am entering my 5th year of school (Yes, I realize I suck). I am a Senior at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. I really enjoy student life. I live in a suite style dormitory and have little to no privacy, but communal living has its perks. There is always somebody to hang out with.

If you feel the need to know any more specific details about me, feel free to ask. I am generally a very open person.

Virtually anyone. I always enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life to further deepen my perspective on the world around me. I generally am respectful to all those I come into contact with, even those I disagree with in the most profound way.

Computer and PS3 gaming is a big one. I have much more nerd qualities than many people give me credit for. I do work out and try to stay reasonably fit, but my schedule and lifestyle often don't cooperate with these goals well. I enjoy rave and dance parties immensely, and have for a number of years. I am not the best dancer, but it relives my stress and it is a great way to meet new people. I enjoy live music of most all genres.

My interested are pretty varied. I enjoy reading but not the science fiction and fantasy type stuff that seems to be so popular nowadays. I read historical accounts and biographies quite a bit. I happen to think that real life is much more interesting than fiction. During the school year, Fiction is not even an option with the number of hours I carry. I am enrolled for 19 for the fall semester which is the most I have ever attempted.

I participate in several counter culture events like burning man and events sanctioned by NORML and the American Libertarian Party. I believe that prohibition has been a scourge for that country that needs to be brought to an end. At the same time, I do not subscribe to the pacifistic and apathy that seems so rampant in counter culture. The way to show strength is to stand up and be counted, and not fade into the background.

I am not much into politics in the form which it currently exists. I subscribe to libertarianism mostly. I believe the government is an enemy, not a friend to social liberties and free expression. The Obama administration and all his allies represent a shift in this country towards governmental control. This is a shift that all of us should be concerned over. I find it interesting to discuss at times, but a majority of people are so hopelessly programed, it is an exercise in futility. Liberals want their government to save them and I want liberation from it. I subscribe to no organized religion to speak of either except to say I do not like fanaticism (and yes that includes atheists)

Music is always a preoccupation for me, and I attend a min of 2 shows a week both as a fan, as well as hauling around equipment for my various friends. I am not a creative person at all, but I somehow manage to attract those who are. Odd, to say the least.

Not a big TV person. I would rather watch movies. The only show that I really got into was The Sopranos on HBO. I may be a nerd, but I still watch Sonic X on Saturday mornings.

Boondock Saints, Munich, Crank, 3:10 to Yuma and Hitman round out my top 5, but If you wanted to see a list of films I enjoy, I could go on for days.

The Karamazov Brothers, Animal Farm, The Great Gatsby (I have read it 12 times), The Invisible Man, and Venus in Furs.

Literature wise, I have always thought it best to learn the classics. Reading western thought and philosophical works is a great and rewarding experience.

"Adapt or perish, now as ever, is nature's inexorable imperative."

H.G. Wells

"No price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."

St. Thomas More, Rudyard Kipling, Immanuel Kant, Abraham Maslow, and Thomas Payne.
