    +3 raves They shouldn't be ignored nor should they be taken too seriously. However,they should be studie... They shouldn't be ignored nor should they be taken too seriously.
    However,they should be studied because what we have here is a expansive psychological phenomenon.
    From the footage I've seen , for one, these town halls are phenotypically homogenous, with people shouting things like "I want my country back" ,& "Say no to Obama" but most prevalent is their stated collective "fear" of Obama himself.
    Now, when Bush was President, as close to living in martial law and witnessing the establishment of an all powerful executive branch as we all were. I never saw this type of visceral fear and tensions from those that opposed him on the Left and on the Right these same now Constitution clutching patriots , sycophantically nodded and looked the other way, because they saw it as Bush protecting them, because he was one of them.
    The efforts to make President Obama an outsider and foreign entity has been more harsh and vast than any attack on a President then I have ever seen. They’ve called him an Arab, a socialist, communist, Radical, Un-American, Not a true US citizen and Black National in their efforts to sell the "He's not one of US" brand to those looking for a reason to hate him. I mean doesn’t it seem odd that a man can be classified as so many different things ,yet all of them have something singular in common: “Not Us and Not U.S”
    Rush Limbaugh and Pat Buchanan, have in essence taken up the mantle of the angry white male, who has seen his perceived stature diminished along with his feeling of entitlement and superiority with Obama's Presidential election, They have now reversed roles with Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson, while using a fear, a deep psychological fear that the slave master had about an uprising of the slaves, he knew would lead to his beheading and castration, against their listeners. The cries of " I want my country back" are veiled pleas for " I want things like they used to be” and they feed them these code words to keep the fear , fear of the vengeful slave, fear of the iron curtain and fear of the black panther party , to keep them focused on hating Obama, and distracted from the facts of their own situation, that they themselves are the poor and the weak and the Rush Linbaughs, Pat Buchanans and Glenn Beck of this fray are agents of the rich selling the propaganda of the elite fundamentalist, to continue to fleece them.
    These homogenous town hall meetings are political lynching parties so they can express usually incorrectly, their reasons for opposing the President. But its clear they don't just want him to fail, they need him to fail. It is the only way to justify the " He not one of us." position which really exposes bigotry and xenophobia on a mass mob mentality level but to also, in the very least, place themselves above him to win back some of their lost perceived superiority. To them Obama is their worst fear, A powerful ,intelligent slave who broke their psychological and physical bonds and now runs the plantation, while they are still on it .     (more)
