We'll almost always be at the opposite ends of the political spectrum, but that's not a problem. I actually respect Charlie Rangel for his service at a time when a lot of Americans couldn't be bothered. His politics and some of his actions are a different story. My views are somewhat mixed as I tend to be a fiscal conservative, but a social liberal - a Rockefeller/Kemp Republican, if you will. A gun lovin', pro-choice, 'Moral Majority' loathin', free-speech fanatic.

WHEW ~ What a week on here, eh? (I should say "another week"). Can you just imagine what the coming months are going to be like? We dare not say, "we're getting too old for all this excitement", do we? LOL

Thank goodness, the weekend is here, enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I spent my time in Vietnam as a Combat Engineer and a Commo chief. Spent 68-69 in II Corps with the 4th Infantry Division and the 101st Airborne, kickin' around from Dak To to Ban Me Thout and all points in between. Assigned to III Corps in '70, I went to the 1st Cav Division for a month and then was 'confused' to the 1st Signal Brigade (actually 'infusion', an Army program to ensure units didn't have a rotational 'hump' with everybody going home at once). Wasn't bad until they assigned me to a Headquarters unit (2nd Sig Gp) at Long Binh in Dec 70. Had me flyin' around in UH-1s as a courier (I hate ridin' in helicopters). Reenlisted for the 101st Airborne in I Corps and when they left country, rotated to the 196th Light Infantry Brigade until March of '72. Most of my time after RVN was pretty good. They left me a...

Reenlisted for the 101st Airborne in I Corps and when they left country, rotated to the 196th Light Infantry Brigade until March of '72. Most of my time after RVN was pretty good. They left me at Ft Hood for 8 years in the 1st Cav. Guess that was to make up for all the movin' from '67 to '72. After that, I saw 7 different units in 12 years.
They 'shanghaied' me to Personnel at Hood because I was familiar with computers and I spent the next 20 years trying to escape. Served in a 105 mm Battery, served as a 1st Sgt in an Engineer Company, spent 27 months tryin' to get away from the JCS for another 1st Sgt slot in USAREUR, and retired in '93 from an Infantry Sergeant Major's slot as Sgt Major of the US Army Readiness Group in Salt Lake City. Good job to retire from - no real troops , just NCO's and Officers training, testing and evaluating ARNG and Army Reserve units in Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and a piece of Oregon. And welcome home to you, too, brother. Take care.
Anyway, you have a wonderful weekend and a safe, fun Holiday.
Hugs,
