My bestie and I deal with telemarketers the fun way by asking them to hold on and then screaing at each other about roasting a dog/cat/goldfish for dinner because we're broke. And sometimes our siblings are home and we get them in on it too, it just creeps the telemarketers out and then they hng up. We rarely get a call from the same telemarketer after that. (more)

"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."

Is by far an awesome quote and it is so true. My favorite quote of all time is:

"To fear love is to fear life and those who fear life are already three parts dead."

Also Twilight is in no way a saga. Meyer and her agent have labeled it as a saga to make it seem more unique when in reality it is not. A saga is a Norse piece of literature, a story following the tale of a family or a story that spans the generations. Meyer isn't Norse, Edward and Bella aren't a family until book four so it doesn't count because they have to be a family for the whole story, and their daughter's tale is never elaborated on, therefore in Twilight cannot be a saga in any definition of the word. See Harry and Ron are amazingly well developed characters their substance is astonishing, Jacob was written well enough and I did really like his character that was until SM had to ruin him in the fourth book. Edward though he is a two dimensional chauvinistic psycho, so underdeveloped the great authors are rolling over in their graves. (more)

The Classics, like Scarlet Letter, Catcher in the Rye (though I didn't particularly like it, then again I read the first two chapters and the end) and The Lord of the Flies (Never read it, but from what I know analytically though, as horrific as it may be, is still well written) shouldn't be up there.
Eragon wasn't half bad except that it was a rip off of LOTR with different creature names and dragons thrown in. I mean he used the name Aragon, just spelt it differently, complete rip off. Though the story was interesting at first once I got to the second book I was appalled all it was, was tell, tell, tell and there was no point to the over 500 page book. Don't even get me started on how it was supposed to be a trilogy but then there was just too much so he had to write a fourth, no way, he is just using the fact that he wrote that book at a young age to cash in on it. Like Stpehenie Meyer did with BD, soon it might just be the Inheritance Saga *gag*.
I think Breaking Dawn should be number one, that book is an insult to all literature, it is arguably the worst written fiction book in the world, my eleven year old cousin writes better than that book. Though the entire Twilight series does deserve to be up there, without a shadow of a doubt, and I haven't read any of the others to be honest.
And I meant to vote mmmmm..., sheesh, I need to check my answers closer.

The writing makes your eyes all but bleed, vampire lore is beaten and burned not to mention Bella is an advocate against women’s rights, while also being a whiney Mary Sue. There is not depth no substance no actual plot to the 2000+ page series, it is not a saga as it has been dubbed and has a cult like following that is full of girls who are the future, which is just frightening. That’s why it’s so awful. (more)
  • +5 raves Of course. There is no contest Harry Potter will always be better, and in my opinion it really co... Of course. There is no contest Harry Potter will always be better, and in my opinion it really comes down to three things, though there are many more points,

    1. Quality of the literature, Harry Potter was well written and actually had a point; Twilight had fragmented sentences, and abused so many words I cringe when I write them now i.e. chuckled, perfect, and beautiful. And misused multiple words i.e chagrin, verbose, ect. You get the idea.

    2. Realistic themes and topics, though both are works of fiction Harry Potter addresses real issues real topics, like slavery, suppression and death. Twilight skips over anything that isn't happy go lucky, no sacrifice, perfect ending, which never happens in real life. They're fiction but at least Harry Potter actually had a story that seemed realistic.

    3. Character depth. Though it could be argued that it would fall into the good literature category, when speaking about Twilight it is a reason all its own. Characters need to do two things in a book, change emotionally, and learn a lesson. Harry Potter changes not only emotionally but physically too, throughout the seven novels, he goes from happy to depressed to angry to sad but reserved and worried for those he cares about. Not to mention he isn't selfish and has flaws and a human personality. This is true of all of the characters in the Harry Potter books even the ones who aren't a major part of the story. Bella on the other hand is outlined briefly so any girl can place themselves in her shoes, she has common flaws, doesn't like needles or blood, is clumsy and average. Most awkward teenage girls fit this description. Not to mention she has no emotional growth what so ever, she is dependent on a guy for everything and complains about her life constantly. Bella experiences these emotions in the first book alone in this order: depressed - angry at everyone -in "love" - desperate/depressed puts herself in harm’s way like a moron - saved by boy she "loves". End. This is pretty much the rest of the entire series goes until the second book where she throws herself a pity party and wallows in self misery for hundreds of pages because Edward is gone, because she can't function without him. Which is even sadder because she is the protagonist and should have a personality.

Those are basically the main three points to the argument there is enough evidence there to support my opinion though, there is so much more that could be brought to someone's attention.

I'm not going to lie, though I recognize Twilight is poorly written, has lack of character depth, no plot and no point, I did like it. I am a sucker for romance no matter how cheesy and honestly when I read Twilight I was going through a romance lacking, time in my life to say the least. So like the current teenage population I was completely drawn in, it might be badly written but it is very umm angst filled to say the least.

The way I see it honestly, Twilight is simply a conductor, if you will, for teenage hormones. Every girl under the age of 14 who's never had a boyfriend, or any romantic relationship is drawn to the whole forbidden poorly written romance that is Edward/Bella, blind to the writing, the characters everything, it doesn’t help that most of these girls have never picked up another piece of literature in their life. They are simply looking for the "love" that isn't really love at all rather just a girl begging for sex from someone who controls her life. But because it draws the reader in, with the promise of romance though it is slow at first they keep reading. Then the conductor begins, the girls who are at an emotional pivotal point in their life are reading this and suddenly they want Edward, because like Bella said, he's absolutely perfect so they expect no less. Then when no boy will kiss their feet and adore them he's not good enough he's not Edward. So they keep the mindset that no one is good for them, even if the guy is relatively okay, even if they could have had a great relationship, because he doesn’t act like Edward.

If you go to TwilightSucks.com, there is this theory on it, it’s called You Are Bella, and I've found it quite accurate, these girls believe truly believe that they are Bella, so they defend the story with their life. Because if they are Bella they will get an Edward, they will get everything and anything they ever wanted. Most Twilighters, are reasonable not obsessed to the point of it running their lives but the occasional Twitard or Twihards, are so obsessed they cannot function without it cannot go a few moments without referencing it. I find that the Twilighters, are girls who have had functional relationships before most of the time completely tolerable, while Twihards are girls who've had a bad relationship or no relationships, they tend to be much younger. So they throw themselves into the story it becomes an obsession that then runs their life.

Basically the difference tends to be age and maturity. Soon this fad will fade and all these hormonal teens will get real boyfriends and Twilight will be a thing of the past.
