Favorite Quotes

"There's no such thing as a free lunch."
-Milton Friedman

"If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all."
-Noam Chomsky

"Superman never made any money
For saving the world from Solomon Grundy
And sometimes I despair
the world will never see
Another man like him."

-crash test dummies

"Don’t you bully me with your politeness! Love is hard to believe, ask any lover. Life is hard to believe, ask any scientist. God is hard to believe, ask any believer. What is your problem with hard to believe?" -- Yann Martel

Some aspects of religion in general and Christianity specifically, when viewed in the proper context, are very appealing:

"Man versus himself.
Man versus machine.
Man versus the world.
Mankind versus me.
The struggles go on,
The wisdom I lack,
The burdens keep pilling
Up on my back.
So hard to breathe,
To take the next step.
The mountain is high,
I wait in the depths.
Yearning for grace,
And hoping for peace.
Dear God..
Increase!
...
Freedom means love without condition, without a beginning or an end.
Here's my heart, let it be forever Your's,
Only You can make every new day seem so new."

-FIF

Favorite Heroes

Those who love without condition. There's a subset within Christianity that I think is simply amazing and as close to holy as I can imagine (e.g., Rich Mullins, Mother Teressa, George Müller, etc.).
