Who Was the Second Gunman?
As some will no doubt point out there has been lots of crazy conspiracy stuff that has clouded this investigation for years. I have no answers but a few things give me pause and leave me with more questions than answers. Why is it that Jack Ruby's relationship with Lee Harvey Oswald is always written off with little explanation and simply dismissed as inconsequential? How is it that Lee Harvey Oswald after spending time in Cuba and being tracked in the Soviet Union as an agent is able to so easily get back into this country, no questions asked? Finally there is all of that official government information that is only supposed to be released after so many generations some of which was released only in the last couple of years. One tidbit that begs for more information is the government admission that a famous organized crime syndicate was involved in the plot to kill Kennedy. I am skeptical of conspiracy theories but the problem with this story is that some things just don't add up. What does one do when the official explanation for something has as many holes as the conspiracy theorists have? -
What's Your Favorite Scary Movie?
None of the above
I'm afraid that on this topic as with many others I have strong opinions. I love a good horror movie which for me means that I hate 98% of horror movies. The closest thing to a slasher movie that I have ever liked was the original Psycho. Unfortunately most people have had that movie spoiled for them by seeing endless discussions on documentaries that play all of the key scenes over and over. Other than that I like the original Frankenstein, the Bride of Frankenstein and the original Dracula. These have wonderful atmospherics. I like psychological horrors like the original The Haunting, and The Innocents. There is an old Hammer movie called The Abominable Snowman which is a wonderfully eerie suspense piece. The original King Kong is still my favorite especially the island scenes. More modern movies that worked for me include Rosemary's Baby and a comedy called The Fearless Vampire Killers. The Exorcist is a classic but like lots of good horror movies tends to lose its bunch because too many scenes have been replayed over and over on documentaries. There was a modern retelling of Nosferatu the name of which escapes me which was quite entertaining. The Shinning was good when I saw it in the theater but again has been overexposed on TV shows. Most of the slasher movies that make people's top ten lists leave me angry or underwhelmed. They are predictable, employ cheap manipulation and rely too much on blood and guts. The problem with that is that it tends to numb a person so that they require more and more gore "to get off." Movies that make the effort at a psychological twist or in building real suspense get my appreciation much quicker. -
What should Congressmen Jesus vote... Public option or no?
Yes Public Option
As the website (John 10:10 Challenge) points out a public option is exactly what Jesus would do. On the other hand the insurance executives who want to kill Health Care reform in whatever form it comes out would probably be cast into outer darkness where there is wailing and gnashing of teeth. -
If frog's brains are only the size of an BB, how do they jump so far?
They don't need any information to jump to ridiculous conclusions
Clearly one does not need much of a brain to react. I guess it would be a little bit like going to . . .oh, say, a town hall meeting and shouting so much that I never actually hear the answers. Clearly one does not have to hear the answers to shout over and over again. Neither does one need much of a brain. -
Are we witnessing the END of the great American experiment?
THIS is what we should do...
I could write chapters on this question so I will try to keep this as short as possible. In eighth grade we had to take Civics glass. One of the things the teacher said at least once a month in that class is that if you destroy the middle class you destroy the country. The other things I remember from grade school was the history lesson that explained that many people came to this country to escape ruling oligarchies. The purpose of the American Constitution was to insure that a rich ruling class did not end up in control as they had in Great Britain. Slowly we have had an erosion of that philosophy by those who blame the government for everything so that the rich can have more and more power over the country. Meanwhile, the average citizen seems to have reached the point where they do not want to do the hard work of democracy. We think all we have to do is vote our conscience and democracy will work, leaving us time for leisure and self-fulfillment. Unfortunately we are at a perilous moment when we seem to lack patience and the ability to do the long hard work. At the same time never before has power been concentrated in the hands of so few. I will be interested to see what the solutions are that people put forward. -
REVOLUTIONARY WAR II? What have YOU been doing to DEFEND your Republic from teabaggers, neo-confederates and other lunatic infants?
I reason with people who are reasonable. For those who are psychologically stuck I just try to remind them in so many words that if even half of their paranoid delusions are true then it is too late for them to do anything about it and they are doomed. -
Glenn Beck tries to kill website instead of presenting evidence that he did not rape and murder a young girl in 1990. Does Glenn Beck have something to hide?
My opinion on whether Glenn Beck raped and murdered a young girl in 1990 is...
Frankly I don't believe this junk but it is a great parody of all the libellous things Beck spreads about other people. I guess it is entertainment until it happens to you. -
Why didn't John Boehner speak up when President Bush appointed his 47 czars?
Because he and George Bush belong to the same political party
BINGO! -
What song should the crowd sing when obama, Pelosi, Reed and the rest of the radical liberals get booted out of office????????????????
They don't need a song, they'll be re-elected
Republicans are a dying party. The only demographic in which they lead Democrats is among conservative, Protestant white Southerners. It's hard to lose to that group when you have all the other demographics sewn up. -
Political views and views on adopting versus buying companion animals - do they have any relationship?
I believe in adopting or rescuing pets, and I self-identify as LIBERAL.
Since childhood I have always adopted or rescued pets. -
What do you call a LIBERTARIAN who votes REPUBLICAN consistently?
They're HYPOCRITES
No one likes to admit that they vote on feelings and emotions rather than logic. The most illogical vote of all time was when libertarians voted for George W. Bush. In retrospect it had more to do with rhetoric and cowboy swagger than the harsh realities of someone who was going to stack the supreme court with people whose only objective was to repeal personal liberties. Not to mention someone whose Attorney General did not believe individual Americans had any personal rights. All of this and libertarians want us to take them seriously now, like they've repented and finally found a brain? Give me a break. -
What do you think is the most overrated movie ever?
Almost every movie Steven Spielberg directs is overrated. ET was 35 minutes too long, Empire of the Sun was an hour too long, Close Encounters was 40 minutes too long and I could go on. It is as if he thinks everything he shoots is too good to cut out. So his movies feel like he is wallowing in self-indulgence. The only movie he directed in which the length seemed right was Schindler's List. The rest, including Saving Private Ryan, would have been better if more tightly edited and shorted by as much as an hour. -

Why will people not accept the truth when they hear it?
None of the above
Because we have been told for several decades now by talk radio and cable news pundits that all the most important issues in life are simply a matter of opinion -whether global warming, evolution, the growing gap between rich and poor in this country, or even where the President was born. Facts no longer matter. All that matters is who can yell the loudest. -
Why do Conservative "Christians" always seem to make the most hateful posts and say the most unChristian things?
I know exactly what you are talking about and I could give many examples. I wish I could count how many times I have seen some one make very harsh and ugly attacks on someone but when questioned about it they respond by saying, "You have no right to judge me, only God." They fail to see the irony in that position. For Christians I think it is the on going problem of faith. One's conscience once pricked begins to long for a society which is less corrupt, less coarse and more compassionate. Having had one's own sins revealed in this conscience-raising-experience one now knows the full extent of our capacity for evil. One then begins to see all of the slippery slopes in the surrounding culture. At some point one wants to hold up or preserve anything decent that appears to be left in society. The mistake that is made however is failing to take faith to the next level which requires constant humility that in spite of what one thinks they are not the enlightened ones they think and that most people around them are fighting their own battles with salvation to the best of their ability. The final stages of faith (according to James Fowler's stages of faith development) move a person into a more universal acceptance of others and a belief that we are all brothers and sisters and part of the same family. One sees this expressed in a Martin Luther King, Jr., a Gandhi, a Desmond Tutu, a Father Chacour, the Dali Lama and many others. For certain conservative Christians that last stage of faith is too painful because the last stage recognizes that true faith is the opposite of certainty. It is a deep humility before the author of the universe. I think it was St. Francis who encapsulated the message of The Christ by saying, "Preach the Good News at all times; when necessary use words." -
Did you know that more people believe in UFOs than oppose public option?
UFOs or not I want the public option (discuss)
A majority of the public as well as a majority of doctors favor a public option. As for UFOs it is easier to believe that they exist than it is to believe the insurance companies will reform themselves without competition from a public option. -
Why does sodahead keep changing their format to appear uglier and uglier?
I don't like the way it's looking
I agree. It used to be easier to navigate. I have not tried to add media since they changed that format because it isn't working for me and I hate having to ask for technical advice every time they change something. Usually they get it fixed but it just becomes more and more of a bother. Also, is it just me or has the amount of advertising and pop-ups increased exponentially?
