  Interesting how we vets sniff manage to find each other. Hope your dad came back with all his fingers and toes. I spent 18 months with the 101st and 212nd infantry. Specialized in long range recon. Actually was a good assignment. Find the enemy, tail/dog them, report, coordinate attacks...try not to make contact since there were only 10 to 12 of us in the field. Not good to pick a fight with so few people and backup 15-30 minutes away. Hope you are retired and doing well.

  I served in Air Force Civil Engineers. Red Horse was the "Heavy" Squadron who could land at a simple airstrip and have a fully established base set up reasonably quickly. When I was in the Middle East they would come do major construction jobs over a few weeks and then rotate out while others came in for another project a few weeks later.
  
  My Dad was in Vietnam, 5th Special Forces. My Southeast Asia was in Thailand in 74-75.
