Youth unemployment is as high as it was in the early 1980’s. Do you think kids today have a harder time finding jobs than their parents did at their age?

Everybody is having trouble finding work! Adults are taking jobs that are usually held by teens just to put food on the table! The longer Odimwit is in office, the worse the employment situation will get!

The biggest problem I see for many is they don't want to start at the bottom and work their way up.

It's really tough out there, and it must really be tough for kids. We need a big change from where we've been going the last few years. Obama has to go.

But it's only partly the fault of the economy; the rest of it is from the behavior society accepts from young people these days. Society may accept it, but the workplace doesn't.

My sons have had jobs since they were 14 and have never had a problem finding work. If you want to work there are always jobs to do. The real question is are you willing to do the work that is out there?

all the older folks are getting laid off and since they cant restart a career, they take the more menial work thats traditionally "for the youth" so weve got no where to go. then when we get older we cant get a job for lack of experience

You can thank Obama for that situation...his hope and change BS created this mess we are in yet he refuses to accept the blame after 3 and a half years in office. He has outspent all previous Presidents combined and will leave us all in a debt that we can never repay or recover from.
    thanks obama

actually it can be argued that education is to blame. with further innovations in all of the subjects taught in grade school, the middle aged generation had a better shot at the better paying and more specialized jobs, pushing out the older generation who was educated with a considerably lesser curriculum, who would take the jobs they can, and with their experience, theyre more desirable than fresh from grade school kids

Yes I'd say its harder now but the sad part is a hell of a lot of the kids now have virtually no work ethic. You push them even the slightest and they have a I don't have to put up with this attitude and quit. Yes there are some great ones out there but you have to weed through all the laggards to find them.

My son was hired at McD's, on his first day at work the manager came up to him immediately and told him the job was filled by a middle age man who had a family to feed.
That's how tough it is out there.

The youth need to know that recessions don't last this long. The last quarter of 2001 our GDP growth rate was 4% but dropped to 2.4% in the first quarter of 2012 and to 1.5% in the second and continues to head South as I write this...Obama's failed leadership is robbing a complete generation of their chance at success and a decent life. I Hope the young wake up and help us make the Change America needs to get back on track...

The job market is very very competitive at the moment and this has led in my opinion to employers taking advantage of job seekers and paying less and offering less favourable terms of employment.

They're paying less of money that is worth a lot less now that it was in the 80's also, and on top of that inflation is pushing costs of everything up higher.

So people are working harder than ever for money that's worth less and over spending to afford more expensive products... all

so true, even at both of my jobs, they pile on work and not give a decent raise. and if you complain about it, they will always say there is some one out there that will take less than what you make now.

Don't do that. Don't say other people are "entitled brats" just because they're in a bad situation. Sure some of them may be but the vast majority are not. They are no more entitled than you are. The solution is not to turn on each other and start name calling. There is no solution in that to anything.

I didn't realize my entire generation was spoiled and entitled. Do you have a degree in motivation? My generation hasn't almost polluted the world to death, dropped nuclear bombs, or built the entitlement system. That was you guys. Bad parenting is more common than bad children.

I agree, parenting has become a lost necessity. Those of us who care are taking care of and teaching more than our own children.
Also, I know of half a dozen good teens who are working to pay the light bills or the mortgage because their parent's were laid off.

Some kids beat the odds, thank God.
I stay away from bad parents but so often their children are at my house for comfort, guidance, structure, rules and family meals (sadly sometimes it's their first time).
I think it is a generation delayed by the longest and worst recession, coupled by the failed multiple "stimulus" policies and it's getting worse.

Yes, we are in more military actions now than when Obama became POTUS.

I do know of many very successful former military, like our cousin who is a executive at Cisco and another who is in IT product development in Switzerland now.
I would hope that everyone is aware that military service is not a vacation, but it is training, education, skills development, team building etc that is unavailable anywhere else.

Youth today are feisty and many are willing to work hard! We just want jobs that give us a chance to work, grow, and advance. Unfortunately in a bad economic climate these jobs are hard to get . Being victims of a weak economy which favors workers with more experience to do these tasks, or one in which employers are taking advantage offering less than they should because they know that jobs are in such high demand , doesn't make us a bunch of spoiled brats! Those who are "entitled little brats" are more often than not victims of bad parenting.

Businesses will not invest in socialism.

Obama has created 5 trillion of public debt since he took office. Of the total US public debt, the spending Machine has created (5 / 10.861) 46 percent of it buying votes with welfare programs.

    http://www.treasurydirect.gov...

Click on “summary debt schedule.” At this moment public debt is $10.861
Trillion, while US government owned debt is $4.754 trillion.

When Obama came to office there were 135.253 total Non Farm Payroll jobs. In Jan 2012, there were 130.297 total Non farm Payroll Jobs. Obama has lost almost 5 million jobs.

    http://www.bls.gov/webapps/le...
Check Non Farm Payroll jobs and run the report.

Capital flees Marxism and takes the jobs with it which is why Obama can't create any jobs

I agree, the loss of 129,000 America's former millionaires combined with the loss of 5 million jobs is all due to Obama's blank check no budget progressive administration.

The youth of today can't gain wealth and are being chained to debt they can't ever pay, all on Obama's shift!
Obama's failed time for someone new.
