Youth unemployment is as high as it was in the early 1980’s. Do you think kids today have a harder time finding jobs than their parents did at their age?

Ok good for you. Now take that 100k you're making and have it all taken away from you. Don't think it can happen? Of course it can....Entire fortunes have been eliminated by industrious entrepreneurs like you and me. What will make you money today will make you go bankrupt tomorrow...even if you put all your money under the mattress. Not everyone is as smart as you nor are they as industrious as you either. Does it still make any sense to kick them when they're down?

I'm not kicking them while they are down, I simply have less compassion for those who are in my same situation, yet persist in buying everything on credit, forgoing an emergency fund in order to buy a 50" Flat screen, and then whine when they have to resort to manual labor just to pay the bills when their job field gets skinny. Heck, I'd employ them myself if I thought they wouldn't gripe about the heat and lack of benefits. Stuff happens, be prepared! Yes, there are some who are truly in a hard spot, but I think the vast majority of them want a sad fiddle played for their percieved misery! Go out and get a job! Their out there by the droves! The company I'm currently working for knows that I'm leaving for the 100K job in September and they barely hired me at the beginning of July! They have had six younger people walk off the job because "it's too hot outside"! I don't even have to lift anything heavy, I just have to be responsible!

Many of my more prosperous clients range from South Dakota down to Texas. What seems like a little known secret to the U.S. is actually partially correct. One part of the population would LOVE to move out there to find work if they weren't so afraid to cut their losses on their homes. The others don't want to leave the cosmopolitan lifestyle. Their loss I guess.

Yea, maybe so, but your boss keeps it going in hyper speed. I just don't understand people that chose to support failure regardless of party. Maybe you need to understand something, the man works for the people "us" and if he is not performing he need to go. This is why some people are successful and lead and some are failures and chose to follow. I think you must be a follower.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

Essentially, the proverb of the horse and water points metaphorically to the need for each person to take ownership of his or her own life. An individual has to desire to drink, to learn, to live and to thrive. Although others may provide opportunities for nourishment, learning, advice and assistance, no one can force another to participate in real living or right choices.

Much like an ocean liner 30 years of Reaganonmics does not turn on a dime.

First of all,Reagan created a great economy. He increased the debt but that is the kind of thing that happens when you win a spending war and get rid of a recession.

Second of all it started at the last year of Bush's term.

Thirdly, the debt increased by 5 trillion, the unemployment increased by 5%, the credit going down, doctors are starting to quit because of Obamacare, the cost of Obamacare is increasing, there are more lay offs, and now businesses are paying less and now even Canada pays there workers more than us.

Reagan created a phony economy, trickle down has been a miserable failure ending in scandal, recession, depression, ans a shrinking middle class EVERY time it was tried.

Secondly it all started in the second year of Bush's term. You know nothing of economics by saying that.

3rd - all a result of trickle down theory failing again.

Reagan created a great economy. He got rid of a recession in 2 years And brought down the unemployment by 5%. He made the middle class better EVERY time he tried.

Secondly, the crappy economy is continuing and getting worse. You know nothing of economics if you like Obama.

Thirdly, the horrible economy is the result of Obama being lazy.

He inherited a terrible economy form Carter then got rid of the recesion in 2 years along with lowering the unemployment. The debt raising was from the spending war with the soviet Union. He increased the civilian employment by 20%.

My assumption that Reagan did bad shows your ignorance. Where did I insult you?By saying you know nothing about economics which is the exact same thing you said? Your ignorance has blinded you into thinking I am wrong when really everything I said are facts.

Thirdly....... The great economy was then ruined at the end of Bush's term. 12 years of a great economy. The debt does not make up the whole economy! We had low unemployment the whole 12 years.

True and Carter inherited all the debt accumulated from 14 years in Vietnam.
He cut taxes and increased military spending? Hmmm that certainly sounds familiar I wonder why?
And how did it turn out the FIRST time ... same as this time. Deeply in debt, a broke middle class, concentrated wealth, and a deep recession.

LOL ... and yet your "facts" have been proven wrong time and again. Your refusal to accept them continues to show your partisan ignorance.

A manipulated unemployment number, a gutted manufacturing base, and a nation deep in debt ... yeah great economy. Not to mention a middle class set up for the final death blow with his gift to Wall Street.

    Good Job.

Reagan's tax cuts actually worked and got rid of the recession. Lowered unemployment, gave jobs to middle class, and got rid of a recession. Debt went up through all presidents after Reagan so you are saying 5 presidents suck.

LOL... I have websites to back up my facts. Your refusal to accept Reagan's great job and say so much bull crap displays your ignorance.

The unemployment lowering by 5%, the recession going away, and the deregulation... your damn right that is a good economy. Not to mention him giving jobs to middle class.

Thanks... for making it easy to prove your "fatcs" are bull crap.

LMAO ... whats funny is you think Op-Ed are facts. Not only are you an economic illiterate but you are a moron as well. Everyone of those "websites" you have to "back-up" your statements are op-ed. There are NO FACTS and there certainly is NO DATA.

Look at #2 ... why non defense spending? Because defense spending skyrocketed. And where did it show up?
    reagan debt

but since he was such a "tax cutter" who paid for it?
    real wages under reagan

As I said run along jr. you will only continue to get bitch slapped in this discussion.

He spent a lot of money on defense? Wow, that is something no presidents has done. Oh wait, your chart says that rest of the presents did too.

The debt is not the only thing that makes up the economy moron. He Lowered unemployment by 5%, got rid of a recession in 2 years, deregulated, lowered gas prices, and got us through the Cold war.

I gave you 8 websites and some facts that prove you are full of bull crap. Now stfu before you get bitch slapped again.

Every job these days is asking that someone have experience in the field and as a kid it's pretty obvious that they are not going to have that experience. Personally, I was lucky enough to find jobs every summer thanks to the people I know. I'm starting to realize that's what really matters in the end.

I have six kids and all of them have jobs and have always had jobs (Good jobs). The problem with many of our kids today is that they are spoiled and don't want to work for what they have. They have become accustom to their parents giving everything to them and relying on our present day communist government furnishing for them. We need to go back to the old days whe people had pride in making it on their own in life. Lazy-lazy-lazy-lazy---that's the problem.

Congratulations! Your six kids are extremely lucky.

Expecting 20-somethings to be able to "just get a job" is mathematically unsound. In conservative estimates, there are 7 people per job opening. Realistic numbers bump that ratio up to 15:1 because in the reported unemployment figures they don't include people that have been out of work for a certain amount of time or have never held a job in spite of being of working age.

That's a two way street my friend. Back in the "old days" you can expect those that employed you to actually give a damn about you as well. That kinda got thrown out the window now didn't it....

My kids have always worked. Even when my youngest graduated (after waiting tables all through college), she found a job. But the job only lasted 2 years - taxes and government restrictions (aviations). She is unemployed, 2 months now. She has been looking and even is willing to move. She just isn't finding anything that will pay her enough to move (and afford to eat and pay rent) and nothing local that will pay her enough to make her insurance, car, phone and student loan payments. She is willing to wait tables - and has just decided she would have to go that route until the economy turns around. My kids are not lazy, they are innovative and they are dependable. But because this economy, and the not-knowing what to expect in November is suppressing hiring and spending and growing. And EPA and IRS regulations aren't helping business growth either.
