Young CEOs on the Rise: Healthy Trend?

If you happen to attend the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next month, be mindful of how you talk to the younger attendees. They might have a job for you. According to Yahoo! Finance, Silicon Valley investors are encountering a wave of able young entrepreneurs. Very young. We're talking 20-year-old kids with million dollar ideas, and "The Social Network" might have something to do with it.

Getting a head start in school by taking college courses early on is nothing new, but the Internet has made it even easier for ambitious young developers to take after prodigies like Zuckerberg by teaching themselves how to code and create software, as well as how to invest, raise money, and tackle the right market. The result is a growing number of teenage whiz kids well-equipped to take on the Silicon Valley. The original article includes tons of examples. Do you think a rise in young CEOs is a healthy trend to have?

Healthy for me as I want the person I negotiate against to be as inexperienced and immature as possible.

Of course this is a great trend. It is sad that the older generation makes it so difficult for the younger generation to be successful. Unfortunately they have got to understand that humans are not built to live forever and on top of that our performance declines more and more with age. It is called the circle of life. Plus, technology is becoming more and more advanced. Young people are better at understanding this than older people are.

You don't have to be a 'rocket scientist' to figure out that inexperience is not always a good thing. Look what happens when an inexperienced polititian is hired to be POTUS!

The less experience they have...the less they care about the people who work there.....it ends up being strictly about dollars...and the workers always lose....

Are you kidding? Wait until you see what is produced by those in charge who never had to start from the bottom. Then come talk to me.

All I have to say to those voting yes is wait five years. Wait until you have someone OTJ tell you to do tough tasks they never had to. I take it the majority of SH are youngsters who have not yet started a job, much less a career.
    Good luck with that.

Not because they're young, but because we need fewer CEOs.

Problem is....not enough workers and too many that want to be bosses yet haven't put in the time in the company.

Why not? The young people are the ones who have to pay back the national debt their parents have accumulated! Make them work for the honor! (LOL !)

There is no way this will ever work. And with all the companies going under once handed over to SONS of the family and inexperience of the youth I am right. First and formost they spend WAAAAY to much time on computers and cell phones to even notice why their company is about to tank. ALSO all that paper they collect in College NEVERS really come in handy when they need it. And it is called "ON hand experience" Most I have worked for have been paper smart but life stupid.

The problem with young guns is that they have no fear because nothing is on the line for them. So it can turn out to be a time bomb just ticking away. Sort of like having Hussein Obama in office as POTUS, no experience, no credentials, nothing. Hence the reason he can't get anything going. I know I wouldn't do business with him if I were an ally country. Same with these young kids, earn respect 1st.

No doubt they will run this country better, providing they are Americans who are not against the rest of the country. They might be better in the government too. Congress needs kicked out and replaced.

The young people of today, well the motivated ones, are so inescapably clever and see things from a totally different point of view than the older generations do. I love talking to the younger generations, they know way more than I did at their age. Bring it on! Baby Geniuses Geniuses

It's healthy to the extent that their ideas are good and their companies are healthy. We don't need any companies with bad business models like during the dotcom boom.

There is the possibility that they could be inexperienced and still somewhat immature, but many older CEOs could do an even worse job with being oblivious to what is going on in their company or just being there for the money. I say give the young ones the chance because they can bring in new ideas that can help a company thrive and possibly help other people.

That works great for the corporate wolves if the new CEO's are young. They're negotiation skills and knowledge are limited. Some will make it some won't; So goes capitalism.
