There's a reason Ivy League schools cost so much: they produce our nation's best and brightest, the future leaders of the world, Wall Street titans, courtroom lions.
And, oh yeah, sexist pigs and rape mockers.
At least that's the case for Yale's formerly prestigious Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity, which was suspended for five years after ordering its pledges to chant obscenities and sexist slurs at women while parading through campus.
The frat, which counts both Bush presidents among its alumni, disciplined several members after the October incident, according to The Huffington Post. In a ruling on Tuesday, the university's executive committee ruled that DKE had violated the Undergraduate Regulations by threatening and intimidating others during the march.
Frat members chanted such slogans as "no means yes, yes means anal," "my name is Jack, I'm a necrophiliac" and "I f--- dead women" while holding up signs that read "we love Yale sluts."
Chapter leaders later apologized, but the national fraternity office ordered them to suspend all pledge activities; the ban was lifted less than a month later and the frat's international head dubbed the five-year ban "excessive" and planned an appeal.
Best and brightest, eh?
The Yale Daily News reported that the DKE incident capped a year-long debate on campus about the school's charged sexual climate and the university's response to several instances of sexual misconduct. A group of 16 students and alumni filed a complaint with Yale's Office of Civil Rights after the DKE march claiming that the school had a sexually hostile environment had failed to respond to sexual harassment concerns.
Did Yale frat get off easy for sexual chants march?

Men and women are equals. This does not mean that they are equal in every single thing they do. For example, men are, on average, physically stronger than women. It is much easier for a semi attractive (even a 6/10) woman to go out and get laid. The same cannot be said about men. Men have to work at it, have some skill (game) and thereby get a woman to sleep with them. It is a LOT harder for an equally attractive man to get women than it is the other way around. This is one of reasons behind why we, as a society, naturally celebrate men who are successful in bedding multiple women; while at the same time shame women who bed multiple men.
Let us briefly visit the topic of virginity from both perspectives. Virginity in a man is not a desirable state or label when it comes to an attribute that the opposite sex wants. This is because he has obviously not been preselected by other women. However, female virginity is not looked at negatively in the least by men. If she looks decent, no man cares if the girl is a virgin or not. In fact, a female virgin is often wanted more.

Now don't get me wrong, men LOVE sluts. We will never turn down an opportunity to sleep with a good looking slut. Partly because she's good in bed, partly because it's sex. But any decently intelligent, self-respecting man will know that it is a terrible idea to emotionally involve himself (i.e. date) with a slutty girl. That would be a very dumb move. Why would any man want to get emotionally involved with a girl who's had 15+ sexual partners? We would just be setting ourselves up for failure. There are many nice worthy girls out there who don't have daddy issues and haven't slept with an entire fraternity house. But, by all means, fvck the brains out of sluts in the meanwhile.
Most guys can detect when a girl is a slut by the first few dates and by what he hears about the girl from other people and from the girl herlself. We put this information together and figure out if she is dating material or not. If not, I like most guys, will still go in for the prize but have no intention of following through with dating the dirty little tart.
To put it simply, a lock that can be opened by many keys is a useless lock and of little worth. But a key that can open many locks is a master key and is valuable.
This article is an example of yellow journalism at its finest, capitalizing on any lingering anti-Bush sentiment to cast DKE in a negative light. According to Wikipedia:
"Notable members
DKE members have included five of forty-four Presidents of the United States: Rutherford B. Hayes, Theodore Roosevelt, Gerald Ford, George H. W. Bush, and George W. Bush. Franklin Delano Roosevelt was a member of the Alpha Chapter of DKE at Harvard; however, the chapter was de-recognized by DKE International due to the chapter's stance on dual membership with other fraternities.
In the election of 1876, the Republican Party chose between two DKE members, nominating Hayes rather than rival and fellow DKE James G. Blaine. Blaine also ran unsuccessfully for President.
Many American and Canadian politicians, businessmen, sports figures, and artists have been members, including Herb Kelleher, J.P. Morgan, Jr., William Randolph Hearst, Cole Porter, Henry Cabot Lodge, Dick Clark, Tom Landry, and George Steinbrenner. DKE flags were carried to the North Pole by its discoverer, Admiral Robert Peary and to the Moon by astronaut Alan Bean.

Yeah, sounds like a pretty bad crowd.

You ask "Should DKE be disbanded?"
---AND---
"Did Yale frat get off easy for sexual chants march?"
You do this ALL THE TIME.
Not that sodahead writers give a crap about quality. They just want another click for their stats.
I'm surprised to read that Bush 41 and Bush 43 are alumni of this frat. Both of them are such gentlemen.
The current Yale membership of the frat don't seem to be gentlemen at all.
Probably. That was just plain rude and obscene.
I was in a fraternity whose members (years after I graduated) was harrassed by the ultra-PC administration because the latter pack of wussy, anti-Greek douchebags objected to an "offensive" T-shirt image.
If these A-hole universities want to address a REAL problem -- how about STOPPING their outrageous discrimination ("affirmative action") against white males?
Last time I heard, that was called sexual harassment, and is not acceptable.
"no means yes, yes means anal,"
Clearly advocating, and could even be taken as THREATENING rape, and should all be held for police questioning to rule out being sexual offenders
Sluts are Nice
This is threatening behavior.
We are getting so carried away with blaming organizations for what some idiots in the organization do.
And then there is the separate issue about whether freedom of speech is being violated here.
I grew up in New Orleans and I well remember the DKE house in the university/uptown/garden district area of the city.
In the middle of the street on the block where this house was situated were painted in huge, neet white letters the words DKE DRUNK ZONE. Though this was absolutely illegal, they somehow got away with it for decades.
DKE is sort of the Frankenstein version of "Animal House".
But a fraternity or its members can be notorious for throwing wild parties, engaging in questionable behavior, and being decidedly uncivilized without chanting sexually charged and threatening slurs against the female students at the university.
They shouldn't be disbanded but they should be prevented for carrying out such atrocities in the future - and if a law suit or police intervention is needed, so be it.
