The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie, deliberate, contrived and dishonest, but the myth, persistent, persuasive and unrealistic.

The GOP don't stand a chance. They're too busy fighting amongst themselves, which also is making them unpopular with the public.

I can't see any of the current GOP pretenders providing much competition for him. This should drive the Republican haters out of their minds. They do everything they can for three years to scuttle the economy in hopes of heading off a second term, and now that they can see the finish line, the economy picks up and the GOP's Final Four keep beating themselves over the head.

Not that I like it, but I don't see Romney or anyone else being able to put him out of office come November.

Of course Yahoo predicts that, Yahoo is part of the lying media that is in Obama's back pocket. Every one of their stories is slanted left.

I'll tell you this, if he is elected again, America is doomed. The Mayans may have been right after all.

It's a ways to the election, but it's a real stretch to presume Obama will take 25 states with the length of the economic slump under his watch.

Of course it depends who runs against him, but right now word is that he's trying to resurrect Richard Nixon and Herbert Hoover.
  • Jeremiah j2 2012/02/24 01:22:02

None of the four R's left standing could compete with either Nixon or Hoover in a campaign.
  • j2 Jeremiah 2012/02/24 03:51:19

I'm not old enough to have watched, but the video of Nixon sweating in the Kennedy debate wasn't very competitive against any of the R's in their last debate and none of them are outstanding.
  • Jeremiah j2 2012/02/24 15:17:35
    Jeremiah
Exactly my point. Nixon was pretty bad in that debate, but he had a good organization, which he used with better results in 1968. As bad as he looked, he would have beaten any of the current crop of pretenders. I think Obama is safe.
  • j2 Jeremiah 2012/02/24 16:20:13
    j2
I disagree that Obama is safe. He's lost the independent voters that carried him last time. If he was this ineffective in his first term, knowing most presidents make less progress as a lame duck, he's a poor choice against any of them and has a very vulnerable record.

One might think so, until one takes a close look at the Republican contenders. They have already lost the women's vote, the Latino vote, the African American vote, the auto-workers vote, and probably the independents with the rubbish they have been spewing. They might have gained the Catholic bishops, but they have lost the Catholic women. It was probably too late for the Virginia legislature to abandon that invasive ultrasound procedure, since the political damage had already been done.

Then there is the economy, with all indicators pointing upward. No wonder the R's want to talk about contraceptives. They don't have the economy as an issue anymore.

The Democrats have been pulling for Gingrich to win the nomination, but now I think they will welcome any of them. This fall's debates should be great fun.

I think a lot of people will sit out the election, but the independents who vote will vote against Obama.

I sure hope the poll is wrong is all I have to say.....if Obama gets another 4 years, we can count this country history as far as the free enterprise sytem is concerned.....full blown European socialism or worse......will be very difficult to revers it.....Conservatives, this is the most important election in my lifetime....we can't blow this one.....

There is nothing to apologize for. He has not been perfect, and has tried too hard for bipartisanship with people who are not interested in working with him, but the total of his accomplishments should stand him in good stead against anyone the R's finally offer in November.

Of course, having a billion-dollar war chest in addition to the millions in his PAC won't hurt either. That can buy a lot of nasty TV ads.

    beavith1
he can't run on his record (no matter what Fawkes Noose cuts and pastes) ;-) and he sure won't be able to run from it.

his $1B war chest may not matter. if gas keeps edging up, there will be some surly voters. i don't think the status quo does well in that environment.
  • Jeremiah beavith1 2012/02/27 20:41:48
    Jeremiah
I am sure his campaign will explain the reasons for the increase in gas prices. That is what his war chest is for, to let people know the increases have nothing to do with him or his policies.

His record is quite good. He has accomplished a lot, despite having the albatross of Bush's recession around his neck. He should do even better in his second term. You should look forward to it.

You would vote for any of the scary Gang of Four? Heaven help us if any of them win.

'it's not my fault'? THAT'S what we're supposed to accept?

when a CEO says that, he's gone. he's the boss. who's fault IS it?

he says there's no silver bullet, but there are several that he chooses not to acknowledge.

i'd pick Newt... Santorum is too right, Romney is too plastic, Paul's foreign policy is from Alpha Centauri. as odd ball as Newt is, he's the only one that has any kind of leadershi track record in Congress.
  • Jeremiah beavith1 2012/02/28 16:12:14

He was booted out by his own party. That's leadership? He was outmaneuvered by Bill Clinton at every turn, and the Dems have good memories. He is a powder keg ready to explode, and you want him at the controls of our nuclear arsenal?

When all around you are blaming you for everything, up to and perhaps including turbulence on the sun, it might be a good idea now and then to point out that not everything is your fault. Given the billion in cash at your disposal, it might be a good idea to point out whose fault it really is.
