Yahoo confirms 400,000 email addresses hacked?

~ The Rebel ~ 2012/07/12 19:15:19
Yahoo confirmed 400,000 user names from one of its services were hacked
Thursday.

The company said that although the breached accounts include
user names from Yahoo and other companies, only 5 percent of the accounts had
valid passwords.

Yahoo said it is working to fix the vulnerability and is
changing the passwords of the affected users. The company also said it is
notifying other companies whose users may have been affected -- which may
include people who use AOL, Gmail, Hotmail and many others.

The hack
happened Wednesday, according to Yahoo, which also said it was an older file for
Yahoo! Contributor Network that was breached.

I checked several times, as several friends of mine had their yahoo address misused by some criminal persons or organisations.
But everything seems to be fine. Still, I will write to my friends and warn them.

I use Yahoo services for e-mail, sometimes, and I had never heard of this new service called Yahoo Voices, the service that was hacked. Luckily, I haven't noticed any problems.
