In what appears to be a pathetic attempt to gain spotlight, McCain has overreached in his plot to embarrass Obama and it has made him look like a ranting geriatric war veteran; who will do anything to get some story time in at the dinner table.
At one point one would assume that any type of Global conflict would show off McCain commander and chief credentials. And the greatest opportunity that landed on his campaigns lap was the conflict between Russia and Georgia. A week ago McCain's candidacy definitely needed some post Obama European rock star tour publicity .
The themes of McCain's campaign thus far have been limited to "McCain strong, experienced, tough, patriotic and American (grunt)." So understanding how Americans like being safe they would avoid the urge to succumb their Obama crush and make sure to put McCain in the oval office.
But putting a working camera and microphone in John McCain's face has been the greatest campaign gift to the Obama. McCain's pre-senile rants have graduated from cartoon-nationalism into foolish uncensored hawkish rants.
The misstep is John McCain campaign is over-speaking about Iraq and foreign policy credentials. The reason why this is detrimental to his campaign is simple. The first 400 times McCain said the ‘surge has worked and Obama has not supported it’ (the surge) he had caught the ears of his cohort, and more importantly a large portion of undecided who are skeptical about Obama on issue regarding militancy. But, than when he said ‘the surge has worked and only I have supported the surge’ for the 1000th time, people begin given additional time to ponderous to the nature of the unlawful invasion. And many began to question ‘should the US really be babysitting a democracy in radical infancy.’ The skeptics began to question ‘if the surged is really the best way too maximize Iraqis political potential by increasing America's resources and military presence in the uncooperative nation.’
The longer he keeps the redundant surge talk, the more time Obama has to counter his argument with the cons of an extended American military presence. This also gave time for the leadership in Iraq to speak favorably of Obama withdrawal proposal favorably, not to mention the ascendancy of exotic military language like "Time Horizons" being spoken by the hawkish administration.
Now Defense Secretary Robert Gates spoke of Russian American relationship changing as a result of the ongoing conflict in the Caucus region. Russia has for sometime to minimize the influence the west has over the Post-Soviet world and the US in particular. Russia also finds displeasure with "anti-missile" defense system in Poland implemented by none of other than the US.
McCain is also propelling the worst stereotypes about America that the nation is eager, hawkish and is just all out nihilistic. These images (in conjunction with Iraq) are being fed to the world community and have severely hurt the US as moral leader on the world stage.
So now, America has both hands tied in two Mid-East Wars and limited military muscle to flex. While "Glorious Russia" is demonstrating to the world that it will protect its own interest from western aggression through its unwavering support of South Ossetia. It also shows the other Post-Soviet countries that Russia will support it both economically and militarily like what has been demonstrated with the North Ossetia refugee camps. While the US news is making Russia look like the over aggressive bear, the Russian province of North Ossetia is attending the needs thousands of displaced refugees who have fallen victim to Georgian forces.
American leaders like McCain and much of the press practically ignored the fact that President Saakashvili sent troops to reassert control in the region of Ossetia to get the "province in line."
McCain is the premier supporter propagator of America pouring all its limited resources in to the aimless occupation of Iraq. So John McCain's uncensored statements about the military actions of Russia show that he is going to propel the nation in the same direction that George Bush has for sometime. Remember him saying "there will be more wars my friend." More wars that could have been solved diplomatically and based on the clandestine scheming of Russia and Iranian leaders that is exactly what these nations desire to see. An overextended US means a weakened dollar, a weakened US economy and most tragic a weakened military with no chance to intervene in urgent conflicts, this truth that many are realizing about McCain despite his war hero ads.
The extension of this debate caused another Phil Graham moment this time via McCain’s chief foreign policy adviser Randy Scheunemann. Scheunamann an early advocate U.S to unlawful US led invasion of Iraq was paid through Macedonian, Taiwanese and $830,000 from Georgian lobbyist. So he may not be the most sober-minded man on foreign policy especially regarding issues involving the State of Georgia.
This is McCain choice mister anti-establishment Maverick chose a person with nearly a million dollars of lobbied interest to a state to McCain an objective policy decision regarding American security.
McCain’s foreign policy expert said they wanted foreign policy crises, because it would help them in the polls, well I though so to. I wonder if I am the only person who has had a change of heart.
