I think they should get some kind of benefits like maybe for every year they are in elected service they get one year of free housing, medical and food...in the county jail. They should also be able to double that benefit by doing, and voting for really stupid things.

I think if you resign for doing something stupid you should lose all the benefits that come with the position... Why should tax payers have to fund this... Ridiculous

Such a seminal idea could make a vas deferens. (Sorry said that in another thread, but I'm so proud of the pun, I'm saying it twice.

Unfortunately, no law was broken ,other than being morally responsible. BUT pols consider themselve to be the upper crust ,and he should lose at least most of it.

Wrong. Misuse of federal resources. Plus if hey have an investigation and find out that his staff knew about the coverup then there is fraud. How many millions of dollars have been wasted just having the DNC party leadership deal with damage control?

No, if he is vested and has paid his monies into the plan, then he should not lose his future retirement. Losing his job is one thing, but taking away past salary and/or the proceeds from its investment is another.

Considering all the time and energy he's cost the taxpayer while not doing his job, I can't imagine there would be anything left to pay in the way of benefits.

I think the pensions and benefits offered all of the members of Congress are absurd. But Weiner broke no laws and no new laws should be passed to strip him of his legal benefits. New laws should be passed to reduce the benefits to all of them.

But the problem is, since they 'police' their own, I don't see anyone in Congress doing anything that might hurt their own chance of receiving their pension/benefits.
