What's gonna happen is gonna happen.. I'm gonna live, I'm gonna die... I'm gonna do whatever I can to make a lasting positive impression on society before the latter happens...
It also enabled my husband and I, 19 years ago to decide intelligently with needed info versus just emotionally deciding whether we should have more children...after the 2 with disabilities. We had another healthy son....There was never a question that we could not love a child with disabilities....but we knew that we would not purposely have children that would have more challenging lives and would adopt should it be revealed that we would have a great risk for this happening.
Knowledge is power....not a lack of trust or commitment.
