Would you support self defense classes as a part of your child's physical education curriculum in school?

Teaching self defense could help to prevent fights in schools. Who wants to mess with someone who can fight, after all? But it also could create problems of people using their knowledge for the worse. What do you think?

    Don't need to. He's 14 and a 2nd degree junior black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Polite, respectful and also capable of putting his foot upside your head if you try anything stupid.

    It's going to send a very mixed message: "Get in a fight and we'll suspend you, by the way, here's how you fight." There are all kinds of martial arts schools out there with professionals who know how to properly teach kids the techniques and the discipline that comes with them.

    We had one in high school. It didn't prevent fights.

    It was one of the few fun parts of phys. ed. though. :\
