Though I can't judge you, since my rent is about that much and I'm living in the worst 1-bedroom apartment in the history of mankind.

Yes, if I knew it could do the job and last for years.

My mom has a nutribullet and it usually costs a hundred bucks. It's amazing, I would not need to spend more than that for a blender. I'd probably spend 40 dollars on one.

450, would pay a month's rent if I were splitting a student apartment.

If it's a Vitamix! (Costco had them for about $350 I believe.)
I've got one, and LOVE IT!
I use mine to grind corn into corn meal, wheat into flour, table sugar into confectioner sugar, grind fresh spices, turn homegrown and dried peppers into shaker pepper, knead dough, make mayo, butter, smoothies, sherbets, and hot soups to name just a few things I use it for.

If my dad spends a dime, he expects 9 cents change.
I showed him mine, and let him use it.
He bought one, and a month later said: "If they said they would give me $1,000 for mine, on the condition that I couldn't buy another Vitamix, I'd turn them down."
9 other people, that I KNOW for sure, have bought Vitamix blenders because they tried mine.

I thought the Vitamix was a gimmick, that was no better than a common blender . . . until I was asked to do a product review on one!

What is your commission on those blenders? Sounds like you are their main salesman.

    I wish!

I was given a Vitamix, and paid to write a product review on it for a group that were "thinking of buying a couple dozen", they asked me to use it, abuse it, and write what I thought about it.

I thought: "A $40 blender, that the company is hyping for 'Big Money' to suckers!"
    But I said: "Okay."

    Boy was I wrong!

I remember being in college and selling Kirby Vacuum cleaners for a living. We had everyone convinced they would do everything except have sex with you, and I think some perverts probably even tried that. The whole point is that we sold the machine for $450 at the time. I made $150, the Dealership made $150, and We paid $150 for the machine. Lots of money for a vacuum cleaner. Lots of profit for me. I would sell 2-3 a week working part time at night.

That was what I thought the deal was with the Vitamix as well.
I thought it was "All hype that it can't possibly deliver".

What surprised me, was that the Vitamix is one of the few products I've reviewed that actually surpassed even the manufacturer's claims.
I know people that use their's to grind/make *MULCH/COMPOST* (They also assure me they use a different mixer container for food . . . )

But after having it, using it . . .I'd sure replace it now!

Most cheap blenders actually do so little in the kitchen, they simply aren't worth the counter space anyway.

    Well of course!!!!!
No one forced her to buy a blender, nor is anyone forcing you to buy one.

And like I said: Most cheap blenders actually do so little in the kitchen, they simply aren't worth the counter space anyway.

Why? Does it do anything more than a $30 dollar one does?
  • Marvelo... White P... 2013/07/11 17:33:58
    Marvelous Wildfire
    ABSOLUTELY!
I've had several dozen $30-$65 blenders over the years, they wore out PDQ, or simply weren't worth the counter space they took up.
Anything a juicer can do, the Vitamix can do BETTER.
Anything a food processor can do, the Vitamix can do BETTER.
    The Vitamix is simply AMAZING!

    Really?
Can it turn table sugar into confectioner sugar in seconds?
    Grind fresh spices?
    Make hot soup?
    Make ice cream?
    Grind wheat into flour?
Grind corn into corn meal . . . or corn flour?
    Make butter?
Turn "too old and tough" Zucchini, into Zucchini bread mix?
    A Vitamix can!

(Did I mention they clean themselves?)

I don't know but it makes all my sports shakes, makes flour out of oatmeal, pulverizes almonds, and does everything I need it to!

Oatmeal has already been steamed and crushed so that the integrity of the grain has been compromised, making it easy to finish "busting up" into a course flour.

But I strongly suspect, the blender you have wouldn't turn corn into corn flour.
Or almonds into very smooth almond butter.
But then, you may not have a need/wish to do that.

Really, it's all a matter of what an individual wants/needs, more so than what the product can actually deliver.

Not if the $450 blender is a Vitamix!
Will the $150 blenders knead bread dough? A Vitamix *WILL*!
Will the $150 blenders grind popcorn into corn meal? A Vitamix *WILL*!
Will the $150 blenders grind wheat into flour? A Vitamix *WILL*!
Will the $150 blenders turn 2 oranges, ice, vanilla, and sugar into delicious orange sherbet?
    A Vitamix *WILL*!
Can the $150. blenders make table sugar into confectioners sugar? A Vitamix *WILL*!

My daughter's hygienist has one she uses an average of 3 days a week, and has had it for over 20 years.
I've had mine for 8 years, I use it nearly daily, and it will do things that I've never seen a $150 blender do, even when new.

Does it sound like I really like my Vitamix?
    *WOW!* I do!
