Some 15+ years ago Ross Perot ran for president, with such declared policies as:

***Balancing the federal budget
***A firm pro-choice stance on abortion
***Expansion of the war on drugs
***Ending the outsourcing of jobs
***Opposition to gun control
***Belief in protectionism on trade.

Outsourcing was a direct result of the Left’s noble, but foolish; heart pounding desire to help the struggling economies of other third world nations to compete in a global economy, so we passed NAFTA/GATT and other initiatives.

Ross Perot spoke against NAFTA/GATT and how the result would be a giant sucking sound of jobs leaving America. Many of us were very loud in our opposition during this period and was labeled "protectionist” by the loony left and drowned out.

Hindsight being 20/20 it looks like we were right on target with our fears. Yes, the legislation was bipartisan to some degree. But now, the fact is that we are now in a global economy. Instead of simply competing with the other manufacturer across the state lines, the competition is now crossing international borders.
