Depends, some jobs it does not matter what you look like. In a professional office environment it depends where they are. If they can be covered with professional attire, no problem.
I understand your opinion completely. However I don't think it should matter in any situation. I work in sales in a professional work environment. The company I work for does not mind that I have the tattoos because they see me work and know that I get the job done, and I do it very well. It's really funny though when my clients meet me and see all my tattoos. It's never what they would've expected from talking to me over the phone, I get a real kick out of it sometimes.
I hear you and can agree to some extent even in a professional environment they can be ok. I've seen some that actually look rather nice. However, you have those that bring out... WHAT THE HELL from everyone that sees them. Not good in a professional environment so the old dress/appearance code comes into play.
Yeah I hear ya. I don't really have anything shocking or offensive though, I don't think so anyway. But yeah, some dude with a tattoo of a priest getting a blow job or whatever would not be a good thing in the workplace. There are definitely job-stopping tattoos out there
I have no issues with tattoos. I have none, but my hubby does, and he is a very hard worker with a lot of compassion for others...
He keeps his tats tastefully covered when at work, so as not to offend any sensitive types, then shows them proudly when he is on his own time. I adore him, so I know people with tats are no more or less hardworking than anyone else.
it depends on the job and if the tat can be concealed like if on the neck and your a day care worker I speak from experience that some bosses will not interview with tats if the deal with the public , their clientele is that may be offended and so forth sometimes they can be concealed while working its all up to the job the tat where its at and so forth but persoanlly if i was hiring i do not think it would offend me
Though I have to admit I qualify that on whether it's for a public relations sort of job. Most people aren't as open minded and willing to overlook appearances as I am and I wouldn't cut my business' throat for such.
It would depend on the job and the qualifications. If it would upset customers then no and I would have that right. If it didn't matter for what ever reason but the person was qualified yes. I have 4 (3 are fairly large) tattoos and none are ever exposede to clients in a professional setting
Yes, it's the persons ability to get the job done that matters
why not. look at some of the dumb shits in any company now. I'd rather have one with lots of tats than a total dick.
unless they have a tatoo of a dick then it straight up no.
Absolutely not, people with tattos are scary and unprofessional
Voted this simply because this poll is biased. If I was the boss of a tattoo shop, of course I'd hire them to show off the merchandise. However if it was something else that required an image--no one can deny there isn't a stereotype for a lot of things and those even help to sell things--that did not fit theirs, I would not. I have family and friends with tats. They are not all like the stereotype of those with them, but they chose to do it and the boss isn't required to risk his business.
It depends on the job and the tats. For instance, I wouldn't give a guy a job at a day care center if he had tatoo's of satan burning people and a nazi swastika on his forehead.
not if they had to deal with the public. some of my clients may not like it and that would cost me bussiness. which would cost me money which i could not afford to lose. because i'm in the bussiness to make money.
I understand that money has to be made, I definitely see your point. But maybe your clients wouldn't mind, or maybe they would never see the tattoos if they were covered by sleeves. I just think it's sad that people judge a book by it's cover, ya know? Thanx for the comment
I know what you mean, things are changing slowly though I think. I met a 76 year old lady a couple months ago that told me she just got her first tattoo last year, crazy!
Of course. I mean, take me for example. I'm always being recommended for jobs and I always work hard, and it's really not too hard for me to get a job. But I want to get tattoos, so does that mean people shouldn't hire me anymore? Some people wouldn't hire me even with my good background of work if I got tattoos. , but hey, those people are dumb.

But if it's like working stock at the back of wal-mart I don't really care.
I only judge people on the way they act towards me and my close friends.
