4. Poll: Americans
Worry More About Govt Than Terrorism

poll conducted just
days after the Boston Marathon bombings shows that despite that tragedy,
Americans are more concerned that government will trample constitutional rights
than they are about the government failing to prevent terrorist attacks.

The Washington Post
survey posed the question this way: “Which worries you more: that the
government will not go far enough to investigate terrorism because of concerns
about constitutional rights, or that it will go too far in compromising
constitutional rights in order to investigate terrorism?”

Nearly half — 48
percent — said they are concerned the government will go too far, while 41
percent believe it will not go far enough. The rest said “neither” or had no
opinion.

As recently as 2010,
a Post poll found that just 27 percent feared government will go too far,
compared to 63 percent who said they were more concerned it will not go far
enough.

The new poll also
disclosed that 66 percent of Americans believe “terrorists will always find a
way to launch major attacks,” while 30 percent say the government can
eventually prevent all major attacks.

Respondents in a Fox
News poll also conducted after the Boston bombings expressed sentiments similar
to those in the Post survey.

The Fox poll asked:
“Would you be willing to give up some of your personal freedom in order to
reduce the threat of terrorism?”

Only 43 percent said
“yes,” while 45 percent said “no” — the first time since 9/11 that more
respondents said “no” than “yes” in a Fox News survey.

Just 38 percent of
respondents under age 35 in the new Fox poll said “yes,” while 51 percent of
those 65 and older said “yes.”

This Countries Government Brought this terror problem about for getting involved in other countries affairs and sticking it's nose too many times where it didn't belong and now we are paying for it like this..I don't believe giving up my God given Freedom and rights as an American Citizen for the mistakes of my Governments Foreign Policies for decades and submitting to the rule of a police state is going to make my life any easier..If that's the case we might as well be living under Communism or Taliban Rule!

Technically speaking we no longer have much, if any freedoms left. The Bill of rights has been ignored as has been the u.(lower case 'u' intentional) S. Constitution!
THE GREATEST THREAT TO ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS IS THE GOVERNMENT ITSELF!
Make no mistake about it, the government sees most of us as its' enemies. ...and has definite and detailed plans to do away with at least 90% of us worldwide.

the government sees? You mean have 'legally' declared us their enemy. Several times in fact, and continue to reaffirm it every year, legally.

Not a chance ...!!!!! I was born in the USA and raised by standards established in the laws and rights of our Constitution, fmy family fought for our freedoms as I did .You'd have to be a fool ,Communist,or Socialistic Liberal to even think that giving up freedoms would reduce Terrorism. Terrorism is based an so many things and fear and jealousy are it's strongest.,in my opinion!

The goal of Terrorism is to reduce our freedom and we can not let them win. We must keep our freedoms and fight. We know who the enemy is, we know what they want to do to us and we must fight back.

NO and the simple fact is there is only so much that can be done to protect against rouge terrorists before the government itself becomes the terrorist. The best way to reduce the threat to any "free civil society" is to keep the government from over meddling and creating enemies both at home and on foreign soil.

Yep, just a little bit.-) Past mass murdering tyrants like Stalin, Mao and Hitler could have never dreamed of having the kind of power that our government has today and anyone who still believes that it could never happen here or that power couldn't fall into the wrong hands in America has their little pea brained head permanently stuffed up their butt.
