The Supreme Court says it's constitutional and now it's the law. Now when you lose your job, you won't lose your insurance, that's the way it should have been.

I would rather live in a state that uses Obamacare. I'd consider moving out of one that opted out.

And not only that, I would join that State's militia. My eyes aren't so good (I need corrective lenses to drive), and I'd be armed with a twelve-gauge three-shooter, but I would pledge that gun and my life to support that State's secession from the Union, if they asked.

Ps There is saying in the British forces, "Don't get in front of the Americans". It means they have plenty of fire power but not so good on the aim.

That's really poor analogy, tactically you try to never cross in front of your own forces. It leads to blue on blue casualties(friendly fire incidents). Also a passage of lines( moving your unit to attack the enemy through a friendly unit )also a big pain in the behind as well. This why ambushes are laid out in a "L" pattern, unless conduct from an elevation to lower ground. There's move but you get my drift.

But the US does have a history of killing British allies in battle and then refusing to co-operate in the enquiries afterward, even refusing to allow troops to be questioned by coroners courts and withholding documents
But the original analogy "short sight and a shotgun" also applies s to US foreign policy of arming various groups that then turn those arms against them, Vietnam, South America the Taliban etc.
Your enemies enemy is NOT always your friend :-(
But ilet's not get too argumentative , have a good day!!

I have had insurance every day of my life. Every day I have had insurance, the cost has been higher than necessary to make up for the people who get medical care but had no insurance to pay for it. Getting them insurance, so I do not have to subsidize their care, is a move in the right direction.

The law is specific. If the states cannot or will not set up the exchanges by 2014, the federal government will. End of story.

I cannot imagine why those states would forgo federal funds to stay with the ridiculously screwed up non health care we have now with the big insurers running the show and rasing premiums but offering less whenever they get the urge.

The Far Right media is in hyper sensational overdrive, really foaming at the mouth. Look at the freaking plan. Some lower-middle-class families are going to get some subsidies to buy insurance, maybe 10-15 million or so more poor people will be eligible for Medicaid. Insurers will get some new regulations ... and many, many more new customers....that are popular even among Republicans.

And with Thursday's ruling, the government cannot mandate that you carry insurance, it can only levy a small tax on those who don't. The real-world impact of that? It's a tax that maxes out at 1 percent -- and it may not even be enforceable because the law itself forbids any punishment for noncompliance.... a penalty that starts at $95 per year. But no one is hauling your arse off to jail if you don't pony up.

How crazy are some people acting over this? There is a bunch of conservatives so freaked out by this tyranny that they're throwing in the towel and heading north to that right-wing paradise known as Canada – a place that has both universal healthcare and gay marriage. Dumb sh*ts ... take off and don't let the door hit you.

No the IRS will be on your butt instead, and will be grabbing refunds. Who is paying for those subsidies that the feds are going to set up? There are 20 new taxes attached to this bill. The largest Tax hike in history.
As far as Medicaid, and Medicare there are already many Doctors who will not take them. What then? You got the aid, but not the doctor.
While many of us agree that something needs to be done about Health Insurance this bill is not it.

Better yet work in your own state to to also opt out of the current sytem. If we ever do have a universal health care system that is sucessful, it will be based on a state run, not federal system. The same is true for education and energy.

Not that it will do any good, we'll all end up paying for it. The government lies, it is lying now. It will negatively affect all and not all will be covered, there will be exceptions that will cost us. (incl. government, muslims, Amish, and many companies that put in applications as early as 2010 to be exempt from it.). I have health insurance, but I do not trust them to keep their word that I will be safe from their excess taxes to pay for this.
