I have encounter a sticky situation with taxation and the american value that we, as American, hold so dear. And every time that I talked about taxation something else come along and they start saying thing like " I believe that we should have a lean government but don't touch the check of the military... "
But very much of what we believe in taxation are the core principle of the American Value and vice versa. So this is not a tricky question and it is plain curiosity. I just want to know where do we stop believing in the american value so that we can stop paying taxes to those American value that we choose to not to afford.

Andy 2012/06/14 14:27:26yes, close it down my money is better spend elsewhere+10Shut it down at a Federal Level... each state has its own Education Department, and then there are the individual school districts and finally the admin of each school. TOO MUCH GOVERNMENT CONTROL...in education. Simplify and save money, and probably a better product!!

Get rid of the IRS
Defund NATO
MINIMUM WAGE for our lawmakers - NO perks either.
END ALL FOREIGN AID.
bet it would save a bundle!
Getting rid of the IRS would reduce revenue.
Defunding NATO would mean defunding the Pentagon. That might be dangerous.
Minimum wage for lawmakers, tiny savings and they just get more from lobbyist - probably a good way to increase bribery.
End foreign aid, OK now we have to pay rent for all those bases or spend extra money occupying all those places. What do you think we don't get something for our money? Probably cost us more..
You missed the point. We don't say "yes to less education." We say yes to getting rid of the Dept. of Education. It is worthless. Education should be handled at the state and local level where it belongs.
Yes the system needs to be fixed but it doesn't need to be removed.
Besides which it imposes requirements on local schools that it does not pay for.
And it is a failure at acheiving what it claims it exists for, improving education.
Decline in educational outcomes and growth of the Department of Education are almost exactly matched.
The corelation might shock you.
Leave education to the states, please.
Sure states like SC, AL and MS were at the bottom of the ladder, but there were excellent schools in California, NY and NJ... and those school systems were the ideal for which others could emulate. But today, with uniform mandates and regulations that stifle experimentation in trying to do better, our overall scores have drifted down. Free the schools to do what each state wants to do, and let the local state citizens be responsible for paying for what they want.
Thanks for the reminder.
Have a forum once a year to decide changes and curriculums. Hire teachers on contract only, subject to review or change or termination based on student performance.
Treat the schools like a private school, and only have the sports or extra subjects that parents are willing to help pay for.
Being able to fire teachers and admin folks that are ineffective si the best way to fix education.
Homeschooling is the way to go or schooling on the computer [ if its just reading, writing and aritmatic, etc...no perversion of any kind ]. Our country is going backwards and we need to pray, get back with God and stand against the evils of satan. This is where we're at folks, Isaiah 5: 20-21 Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil.
Right on!
