I'm trying really hard not think about that! LOL! But here's a true story: I knew about the "WalMart Caskets" a few years ago, so it's old news to me. I heard that the chain was selling them about 2 or 3 years ago. Back then, I was doing a photo project for a friend of mine & got this crazy idea of taking a group of friends to our friendly neighborhood WalMart (who we all just happened to have another mutual friend who we knew worked @ 1 that sold them) & place 1 of my friends in "the box" & take his picture. It seemed like a good idea @ the time, since I'm DEATHLY (heh...) afraid of funeral homes. The casket section @ WalMart seemed like a healthy (albeit less scary) alternative. All of my friends were go hung-ho about it... even the "model". But when it got time to take the picture suddenly every1 started to get second thoughts about it & some serious cold feet... especially my friend who was the WalMart employee. So, I scrapped the idea & took the shot @ a beautiful Catholic cemetery where my best friend is buried instead. After we visited my deceased friend, I took the shots & they came out really nice! But, every now & then I think about the "WalMart Casket Photo Shoot" that got away! Oh well. Que sera, sera. I have weird friends... but I love 'em!

    yes

    whatever the hell is cheaper.

Funerals are so expensive now a days and who cares. I would be dead anyway. It would be a way to not leave such a burden on those left behind.

But probably will be incinerated so doesn't matter.

    Costco carries caskets now too

    yes

Why not? It's just a box.

I actually love this question. They have a retail store in Houston called 'Pine Box.' They have the BEST deals on caskets. It's funny when I talk to families about funeral arrangements and how you can get good deals on burials/funerals. Pine Box is kinda fun to mention.

To some degree, I would say that I couldn't care less about burial stuff. I'll be off in Heaven, I hope. But I prefer cremation for myself. No worms, no rotting body. I just don't want to lay in a cemetery with all the dead people :)
