It's far to easy to game the system right now. Also, there's no hard copy to count if a recount is necessary.

I would love that since being out of my house is so painful. I've had to miss a couple of elections due to my pain condition, this way I wouldn't miss another one.

If they could ensure it was secure and that fraud was either totally prevented or they had an easy way of detecting and rectifying it, I see no problem with this. Anything that gets more informed people voting is good for our democracy.

There's already too much risk of tampering with votes & obtaining individual's personal information as things are. NOT SAFE!

The results would be quicker, but with our Nanny government they would want a quart of blood and my great great great grandfathers ID to make sure of the linage.

It's too easy to hack into online accounts, plus there would be no paper trail for recounts.

If it were a perfect system in which voter fraud was impossible,I wouldn't mind it.

In theory, yes. In practical application, no. The problem is that there's no way to secure the process to meet the requirements of all parties concerned.

I think the IT people can find a way to do it correctly and voter participation will peak.

It's already very easy for anyone who wants to get involved. Making it available online wouldn't really bring the apathetic voters into the fold.

If someone can vote with the click of their mouse instead of having to drive down to the polling station and physically present themselves, it would get a lot more people involved.

You HAVE heard of absentee voting, haven't you?

Also known as voting by mail? You never have to leave the house.

Still online would be easier and would get even more people. I don't know about you but I hardly use snail mail for anything anymore.

"Making it available online wouldn't really bring the apathetic voters into the fold."

You may be right, but since it's never been done, how can you tell?
