years a go there was a shooting in a preschool i n england and they banned guns it is near impossible to smuggle in guns and there has not beein that many episodes so bann guns and make the futrel safe for our next generation
funny, here in the south, we rarely have these mass shooting problems. In fact, I cant think of one. It must be a genetic defect from living too far above the equator in the western hemisphere.
You have one of the highest rates of domestic violence in the nation. Whacking around the little wifey and the children is accepted as part of the "manhood" down there. And, of course, burglaries and armed robberies are simply "jobs" for a large portion of the population, especially in New Orleans metropolitan area. The difference in stats, of course, is that in very small towns and villages everyone knows what everyone else is up to 24/7.
We're already one of (if not the) most prolifically gun toting nation and have one of the highest crime rates. The concept has already dis-proven itself.
We are not just "one of", we have many times more guns than any other place on the planet. We are the only nation that idolizes gun violence and brags about wanting to shoot up something, our Government or neighbors. The small step of letting the desire envision where people gather is so easy for borderline minds, and then there is another shooting in a school, church, shopping center or other public place. Indeed, the indea of more guns making us more safe from guns is beyond the pale of disbelief, it is a sick joke.
More importantly, the new "assault weapons ban" does not ban one single weapon. Not a goddamned one. Just like the 1994 ban, that was strengthened in Connecticut, far before the Sandy Hook shooting.
It bans the sale of big, scary guns - and accomplishes nothing.
Any gun can be used to commit murder. Any gun that fires more than 5 shots can potentially be used to commit mass murder.
In order to remove arms - weapons for killing people - from the people's hands, the government has to pay fair market value for those weapons.
Criminals will not turn in their arms.
Criminals will always be armed.
Criminals will win 100% of the fights that they pick with you if they choose to be armed and trained.
You are a defenseless victim if you are not armed with a gun and trained with a gun. This is not my opinion -this is fact.
When were you ever in a bad area in the US and for what reason?
There's no reason arguing stupid points about a different society, telling me that I don't need my rights. I do need my rights. I may need them even more some other day.
I drive a truck for a living now. I own 33. I go to some of the toughtest neighborhoods in the States everyday because business choose to have the cheapest rents available.
I only brought Japan to the conversation because you asked, "And do you think that Japanese society and American society are even remotely close to each other?"
BLOCKER ALERT !! sodahead below !! The Japanese can't afford guns AND they punish criminals harshly, not give the criminal more rights than the victims.
If gun control doesnt work and we now know that 320 million guns have left us with one of the highest rates in crime in the civilized world what is your solution?
You will not protect everyone. But you could potentially protect yourself.
Bring friends that are armed everywhere you go - and you are much safer.
If everyone carries a machine gun everywhere, believe me, even when tensions flare, no one shoots each other. As an Iraq/Afghanistan vet - I know this from experience.
You are advocating a police state? As an Vet from a different era, do you really want your kids to see what the kids in Iraq and Afghanistan saw everyday?
But there is not much more that can be done as 49 of the states already allow the people to carry concealed.
Giving the criminal pause!
With guns restricted ALL violent crime goes up.
What is violent crime, you ask? Homicide, Assault, Robbery, RAPE.
Perhaps one should look at white collar crime as being MORE devastating.
Thats what I call, naked hypocrisy.
Im replying, yes. As online chat lacks the satisfaction of shunning you in person.
fail

Because Japanese gangs typically don't go around killing each other simply to make money by dealing drugs imported from Mexico/Columbia/etc.
I am safer because I have arms (WEAPONS FOR KILLING PEOPLE), and because I am trained at using them. This is not my opinion - this is fact.
