Woman Who Falsely Cried Rape Gets 2 Years in Jail: Does Jennifer Day deserves a harsher sentence?

Peter Griffin July 22, 2009 16:14:47

A mother has been convicted to 2 years in prison for crying rape against an innocent man that she met at a dating site. The 34-year-old Jennifer Day had no proof of the rape and Judge Ian Graham was disgusted that the investigation took so much time and over $4,000 of taxpayers money.

I think people who file false claims should be given the same term in jail that they tried to pin on the other person. I think that would help instances like this, where feuding spouses claim sexual abuse of their children during a divorce, and fiascoes like the Duke Lacrosse Scandal. It is too easy to just cry rape and immediately destroy a person's life.

Rape is such a horrible experience, anyone cries wolf or does anything that could potentially diminish the credibility of real victims should be punished as perjury and criminal conspiracy to deceive law enforcement.

Many innocent men from all walks of life, different backgrounds, economical status, racial classifications and religious followings have lost everything from losing a good name, their propery upto and including their lives. Unfornately some societies within our american culture have demonstrated a high willingness to hang, lynched, burned, and imprisoned innocent men from a woman falsily accusing a man of rape without any proof of the false claim. One movie which speaks to the closed minded society which supports a woman who crys rape is the movie called "Rosewood". The scene takes place in Florida, USA. Jennifer should be subject to receive the same maximum punishment that any man would receive for a conviction of rape upon her false charges. The law should protect the innocent and punish the wrong doer.

She deserves far more than two years. ANYONE who would make a accusation that serious deserves far move than jail time........To make that claim knowing it is not true speaks to a whole range of mental challenges. Perhaps she should do her time in open population........... deserves jail claim true speaks range mental challenges open population

I'd hate to see more violent crimes be set free due to overcrowding, but she should get the two years. She makes it harder for REAL rape cases to be prosecuted.

She should also be made to pay back the $4,000 plus another $4,000 for all the time it took away from people who really needed help. She should have to do the time the offender would have gotten...She could have ruined a good man's name and he would have never gotten it back!

Shame on her! She gives women all over a bad name!

I like your thinking BB......but it is not steep enough......
If our justice system would set TRUE & TANGIBLE examples, much of this crap would stop overnight. There should be a non-cable channel devoted solely to punishments that ran 24/7. In perhaps 12 or 24 months the station would go bankrupt for lack of "contestants". end

I like your thinking too! I forgot to add that she should be made to listen to "real" rape stories everyday, pictures included! She also should be made to write an apology to all the woman that have been really raped! I can't stand women like her! She makes my blood boil!

Sentence her to a rape, no penalties applied to the rapist. Should be quite effective. Grant her the full consequences of the reality she tried in part to create.

Huh, misclicked the box, but you get the idea.

How long she remains a registered felon is up to the review board to determine. In the interim, the right to vote and very strong encouragement to do so by her parole officer would help to return her to society.

I really don't mean to sound crude, but even though they met on a dating site, maybe the first date, went to second, possibly third base and she didn't like it, hence the action she took. It is wrong though, I am glad the courts took the side to jail her, but I think that 2 years sentence was good for the lying way she took out against the guy, but she should have been given 1 more year for letting it happen, then one more on top of that for thinking of even trusting a dating site/lying on the app for a date. You know who knows how she filled out the appl. for the so called mate they paired her with. You know maybe she lied to make herself sound better somehow, maybe blond instead of a redhead, blue eyes 'vs' green. Maybe she ought to do a little anger management course at her cost, or at least mentally examined, at her cost, therefore paying back to the taxpayers for wasting our money and the courts lost time.

Maximum punishment as allowed by law + 200 hours community service while wearing a sign that reads "I LIED ABOUT BEING RAPED".

But no less than a year. Rape is a serious crime, which has long lasting reprocussions for anyone accused of it. Crying "wolf," also dimishes the testimony of all victems of this act. No punishment should be more serious than the origional crime. The law should always attempt to reform more than punish. A year in prison should be enough to imprint the seriousness of an offense on anyone.

That is terrible. Even though he was found innocent everyone that knows him will always have their doubts about him. She ruined his whole life cause she wants to be a dumb ass. She deserves to get as many years in prison that he would have gotten if he was convicted.

I know someone who was falsley accused of a sex crime. His had a friend to charge him with sexual conduct with a minor. together they caused hell in this mans life for about 6 months before the friend got to feeling so guilty she told the truth. I have known this person fot most of my life and while all this was going on even I wasn't sure.(i'm ashamed to admit. These women didn't even get a fine. The friend lost everything. The charges were dropped but here was a guy in his fifties having to start all over again. He deid about 6 months after all this was over of a heart attack. He had never been in bad heath before but You could see when this was going on he was actually physically suffering from it. His whole apearance. changed. This was a good man torn down by lies. I wonder what his children think of there mother.

This makes me so sad and bothered that this man's life was so totally destroyed because of someones lying attitude that cause him to mentally and physically slide like this. My comment above i feel is null and void now, and honestly do feel that the perpetrator of the lies should do full jail sentence on what ever crime it 's for, plus pay a large fine.

I had a co-worker friend who was falsely accused of rape. IT RUINED HIS LIFE!! Even though he was absolutely 100% innocent, and proven beyond the shadow of doubt innocent, he lost his job, his wife (although they did eventually get back together) a lot of friends (fair weather friends) and a stain that would stay with him for years afterwards. RAPE IS BAD!! DESTROYING AN INNOCENT MANS LIFE IS JUST AS BAD!!
