Woman Has to Pay $450 for Pretending to Be a Stripper: Reasonable or Ridiculous?

Here's something you don't hear every day: a woman tricking people into thinking she's a stripper -- and then having to pay a fine for it.

But that's what happened at a gentleman's club in Clearwater, Florida when Natalie Behnke walked right in and acted like she owned the place. Behnke immediately began taking her clothes off, dancing provocatively and asking customers for money. That's usually how the pros do it, right?

Maybe. But Behnke's no pro. And the real strippers at Baby Dolls weren't having any of that.

After staff asked Behnke to leave and she refused, they called the cops on her impersonating butt and she was booked on "disorderly intoxication" and asked to pay a $450 fine.

Tough crowd, right?

And, as it turns out, this is not the first time that the 25-year-old has had problems with the law.

Behnke, whose last name appears as Benke in criminal records, is recorded as a habitual juvenile offender after being arrested on charges of shoplifting, car theft, battery and aggravated assault -- all before she turned 18. Oh, and she's also been changed with giving false identification to law enforcement.

Behnke may not be a professional at stripping, but she sure knows her way through the system.

Do you think the $450 fine is reasonable -- or is it kind of ridiculous?

I imagine if I walked into McDonald's and started selling my scrumptious home-made hamburgers to their customers, I would get arrested and fined as well.

It's really obnoxious when girls that aren't dancers try to compete with us. We don't take kindly to it. If she wants to be a stripper, all she has to do is audition and in many places she can start working that night.

"impersonatin butt"? how do you impersonate a butt? shes been 'changed' with givin false identification to law....enforcement? this is terrible. if she wants to strip then let her make her money. WTF is 'disorderly intoxication'? is that even a real crime? sounds made up to me. what a prick these staff are.

I can see why they did it. Going into an establishment as she did and taking attention from paid dancers isnt a good thing and should be frowned upon (unless there is an agreement in writting allowing it) Money is lost otherwise ---that's wrong.

$450 is probably what the court time and police effort cost. She was asked to leave the establishment and she refused, that's criminal in my book. If she wanted to work there she could just send in a resume, if not then you leave when asked, just like any other business.

First, she wasn't fined for stripping. She was fined for being drunk and acting like a jackass. Second, if she wants to strip for money, she needs to get hired by the strip club, first. Otherwise, she's just taking business away from the actual employees, there.

To everyone saying ridiculous, answer me this: If I walked into your business and attempted to do my own thing in there, effectively taking money from you, would you be happy about that? Would you want me to be fined? I'm pretty sure the answer is yes.

As a former dancer I can say that she was out of line. Dancers have to pay stage fees and tip everyone that works there... they don't need some floozy off the street to come in and take their money.

It was reasonable to arrest her, but I think the fine is a little steep. Community service may have been more appropriate. Maybe she should have been made to go to rehab.

The strippers in a strip club strip as their profession and are employees of the club. In many states the club must even register their (club's strippers) names with authorities. What Ms Benke did was virtually the same as if she went into a busy restaurant, slipped on a restaurant apron, grabbed an order pad and took the orders from several customers, gave them to the cooks, served the meal and received payment and tips before discarding the apron and walking out the door with the money. It is stealing from the place of business. By posing as a stripper she was stealing from the club's strippers and the club. Add her long rap sheet to it and you have a professional law breaker. If a large fine can break her cycle instead of sending her to jail - all the better for her and the tax payers.

Disorderly behaviour, drunk & disorderly, etc. are catch alls the police and district attorneys use when someone is committing several petty crimes and they wish to avoid the expense of a trial. She could easily been charged with criminal tresspassing, theft of business, and multiple counts of monetary theft. She could easily have been facing at least five years in prison.

Or maybe, Johnnyj, they are like me - not gay & male, but someone who believes in obeying the law and that others should obey the law. She stole money from the club and it's strippers and when she was told to leave the premises she refused and continued to try and steal money. She is lucky she got off so lightly.

"she was booked on "disorderly intoxication" and asked to pay a $450 fine."

That's what she paid a fine for. Being intoxicated and disorderly.

Not specifically for pretending to be a stripper.

Nice comment, but I think the fine is reasonable. I think the comment could be said to mean that Behnke should let unknowns have their shot at breaking the law.

When this Natalie Behnke nut job walked into a strip joint and began taking off her clothes and dancing provocatively, all while asking customers money, she was cutting into the business and livelihood of the pros who work there. I'm wondering, have the authorities ever perhaps looked into getting this woman some psychiatric help? She sounds as if her life's a mess, and there may be a mental illness lurking somewhere inside her head. One thing I was thinking is, what does this woman LOOK LIKE if she was asked to put her clothes BACK ON and was arrested and fined for STRIPPING in the first place? Most females who are the least bit attractive aren't on the receiving end of complaints and being arrested for disrobing. I mean, if she's a real dog who's packing like 300 pounds, I can see the problem here. If she's hot, she likely would have been hired right then and there!
