Woman Chases Beer Thieves: Brave or Bonkers?

A Texas woman fed up with reprobates in society was captured on a Walmart security camera chasing down a group of men who walked out of the store with a case of beer that they hadn't paid for.

Her name? Monique Lawless. Go figure.

The 5-foot-nothing, 125-pound woman followed the men into the parking lot, jumped on their car’s hood and tried to kick the windshield in, while yelling, “You punks, you are not going to get away with this,” the paper reported.

Though Lawless was not able to stop the thieves and suffered two black eyes as a result, police did track the men down eventually.

She told Fox News that if she could do it over, she probably wouldn't have jumped on the car but she still would have made a big scene about it.

This happened in Texas, They should be thanking their stars that she wasn't armed and blew the worthless pieces of trash away.. This country needs more conceal carry permits, The punks would have to worry more about being shot if they didn't know how many people around them were armed. Shot out their tires, blew a hole in the radiator, anything to make their lack of morals cost them more than they got.

a family friend was security at target for 14 years and 99 2000 time frame target inducted a 'don't chase' policy so why even have these cameras then? what this lady did is the right thing to do but it's possibly too late if you know what i mean. if one guy holds up customer sevice at a target, walmart etc and you're buying a rubber mallet bash the guy on the head knock him out and call the cops, no charges should be put on the person who knocked the guy out or if the robber's a weakling killed him since it's simple cause and effect, if he had been a good boy you wouldn't have had to bash him.

and a little bonkers as well...however, this kind of civic involvement used to be common place - someone would see a crime and actaully intervene to stop it.....now, you are told not to do anything - you might get hurt, well - you might get hit by lighting as well - but don't just stand there and let criminals get away with mugging someone.....

Even though I think Monique is a brave soul she lacks common sense. She would not be alive to tell her story if they had a gun. Sometimes it is better to observe the description of the suspects/car, jot the license plate down if possible and get the direction of travel. Let the police do their job in finding idiots like this, they always get caught sooner or later.

I give her credit for standing up to these thieves. Of course, none of this would've happened if Wal-Mart was closed on Sunday, especially on Father's Day. By the way, where were the fathers of these thieves through all this?

Of those who answered Bonkers I'd like to see how they would answer if it were their business and not Walmart. People are turning their backs on doing the right thing more and more these days. When someone does do the right thing it should be commended.

I voted Bonkers because it was Wal-Mart. Do you think Wal-Mart would give a rats ass about that employee if she died?

edit: I just noticed it wasn't even an employee, it was a customer. Wal-Mart cares even less about those.

Doing the right thing is, "Doing the right thing". Who gives a rats ass who it was for? Your the type of person who would see a woman get beat up by a thug for her purse and say you won't help her because, "she's black", or "she's white", or "she's old" or "she looks illegal".

Your conditional thinking is part of the problem, not the solution.

There is a huge difference between someone having bodily harm brought on them and stealing beer from rapist vendors like Wal-Mart.

Your inane thinking IS the problem, not the solution.

maybe saying bonkers was the wrong thing to say, but she should have just gotten thier plate number, and called the police, and let them do thier job, and no she wasn't killed this time.

Something also that shocks me about the bonkers answers are a lot of them are MEN. They say bonkers but women are sick and tired of the whole turn the other cheek and hope the police catch them.

Being a Bonker is wrong no matter the sexual orientation. Even someone pulling out their cell phone and taking the initiative to call the police would have been better than anything a Bonker would contribute.

Most young men that steal beer are just short on cash or underage and test their luck to see if they can get away with a case of beer. They are most often not dangerous criminals who would kill anyone over beer so that's why I consider this more of a brave act rather then bonkers. She decided to do something about it rather then just stand by and let them get away with it and that's brave that she stepped up for it. Many people here say she's bonkers and was putting her life on the line for it, but that's very unlikely, because as I said majority of petty thieves are not dangerous criminals and most defiantly would not risk killing someone over beer, hell I've even had friends back when I was younger that used to steal beer and they're honest and good people these days. They just needed to be taught a lesson.

If more people got fed up with this kind of lawlessness it would low down. Our court systems are laughable, bad behavior is "excused" and real people are being hurt because officials are afraid of doing their jobs. What guts this woman had, scary but gutsy. These guys wanted beer and just helped themselves knowing that no one would do anything about it. People, it is time to start doing something about it.

I'm glad that she was not hurt.

After having been burglarized several times in my life, I have zero-tolerance for thieves. NONE! One thing I learned about from the Middle East that I would not object to is to cut off their hands. They will never use THAT hand to steal with again.

I have no doubt that every dirtbag that ever broke into my house or garage or one of my rigs has stolen again since then. And if they are still alive they will continue to steal.

Don't put them in jail for a few days. Chop their cotton picking right hand off and they will think about it before stealing again with the other hand.
