We've all heard our fair share of "crazy girlfriend" stories, but this one may take the cake.
A 42-year-old Dutch woman got more than a little phone-happy, calling her ex-boyfriend -- yep, that's right, they were already broken up -- a total of 65,000 times within the past year.
In case you don't feel like doing math, that's 178 phone calls a day, seven calls each hour and one call every eight minutes. For one whole year, uninterrupted. If that's not downright koo-koo, we don't know what is.
Well, the 62-year-old ex finally had enough and filed an official complaint to the police. Police then seized several cell phones and computers from the woman's house and sent the emotional basket-case to court.
In her defense, the woman claims that her and her ex were in a relationship at the time and that the number of calls was not excessive. We're not sure what good that information does, though. Because even a call to your boyfriend every eight minutes is simply too much. Let the guy breathe!
The Dutch courts handled the situation like any rational establishment of law would. They charged the woman with stalking and kindly ordered her to stop calling her ex -- or else.
Seems pretty rational, right? Sometimes you just need a legal smack-in-the-face to get the message.
Do you think the telephone-happy woman was desperate -- or just determined to reach her man?
