Even after Iowa Caucus and NH primary, aggregated polling nationally still shows Obama beating Romney in the general by +/- 5 points. And as Obama's approval rating gets better, that polling number will climb.
that means 61% of the republicans do not like Romney in New Hampshire.I know that does not mean that they will all vote for Obama but I do think due to Mitts religion many may stay home.
Obama has had many difficulties during his first term. Some self imposed and some not. Obama should be worried regardless of who the Republicans nominate. The previous election to fill Ted Kennedy's senate seat demonstrates this point.
I assume that Obama and his team have planned on going up against Romney for some time now and are ready. I also think that the antiRomney Republicans will do most of the damage to him themselves in their last ditch "anybody but Romney" attack.
I keep telling everyone here that the Obama machine hasn't even been put into gear yet, that won't begin to happen until after the Rep. Conv. and our Nomimee has been decided.
Obama is holding his cards close to the vest, and keeping his powder dry. Something the Republicans have not been doing.
Late spring and all summer long the Obama BILLION dollar machine will be grinding up our candidate
Mitt needs to be worrying if he can prove if he is an American Citizen!!! His Father is ALL Mexican and born there. HE is a "sleeper cell" for that country and now we know why he sent all those jobs he raided over there. Where the hell is a birther when ya need one?
Damn those Mexican drug cartels!!! Who would ever thought they could one of their own to run for President...mmm on secon thought they did get one in as President
I don't think he has any reason to worry. Despite Mitt's ability to apeal to independents, I think Obama will still win the Elections if it comes to an Romney vs Obama race.
Romney is the GOP's best chance to win the election. Unfortunately, it's just that...winning. No real agenda for the American people from either of these corrupt parties just looking forward to the next election and doing little to nothing in between except raising money and doing favors for their contributors.
The Republicans don't really love him. Campaigning is not going to be so great, as many people don't see Romney as all that different from Obama. If Romney ends up being the candidate, I see Obama taking the election in a landslide. Especially of Romney picks Gingrich or Santorum as a running mate.
Terrified. He's the only GOP candidate that can beat Obama in the general. He'll pull in the most important voting block to Obama - moderates. The conservative GOP base will come out and vote for him simply because he's not Obama. Some liberals will stay at home, disenfranchised by the last 4 years.
He has a lot to be worried about - which is why we already see liberals teaming up with Paul and Gingrich types to try and derail Romney the candidate.
I'm sure that the Obama people have known all along that Romney will be the nominee, so they have been preparing for it from day one. I'm sure they are well aware of the fact that the old guard of the GOP is going to put their favorite candidate in come hell or high water. The "Tea Party" people were fools to believe that they were ever going to get control of that party. It's Romney who out to be afraid, because the die hard Ron Paul people might just ruin his chances in the end.
No, Romney has never been able to win over 40% of the republicans let alone the independents and democrats needed for the presidential election in 2012. Even the conservatives favorite poll Rasmussen has him leading by 3 points. There will be an all out assault on Romney in South Carolina from Newt's superpac and with his recent verbal gaffes he's not exactly helping himself. Then when he wins the GOP candidacy eventually Obama and his superpacs will finish what Newt started.

The Ken Doll, Romney, is a flip flopping unconservative RINO getting blasted by his own fellow candidates who are helping the Obama campaign with plenty of ammo to shoot Romney down with. Plus the evangelicals dislike Mormons, and the tea party leaders are now railing against him. He is the emblem of corrupt capitalism for his tenure at Bain, the very thing the OWS is protesting. Plus no Republican who has lost in a previous primary, as he did in 2008, has ever won the presidency.
It is true. Nixon did not lose in an immediately previous primary. Yes, I am a moderate and I get snail and email from both parties, and I voted for Nixon btw. I am a registered independent. Your supposed insult of liberal doesn't phase me, and I doubt it phases liberals either. Pretty juvenile.
Ronald Reagan lost in 1976 to Ford narrowly and won both the nomination and the White House in 1980.
Not. True. So either you're plain ignorant or you like to perpetuate a lie in the face of simple fact.
Liberal isn't an insult - its interesting that you percieve it that way - its simply a better label. Why would you run away from it? Why would you be afraid of it?
You voted Nixon decades ago? Thats fine. My dad voted for McGovern and now he's about as conservative as they come. Give me something fresh. Give me a conservative idea or candidate now that you're in favor of and we'll talk. Its very simple. Liberals believe in liberal ideas and support liberal candiates and flame conservatives (what you do), conservatives do the vice versa. Moderates can see both sides. They don't rant and rave about "Ken" dolls or "RINOs" or whatever tagline helps them that day. You rant on against conservatives like a liberal, which is fine. Do what you want to do. Just don't be afraid to say who you truly are. Don't lie about who you are.
Me? I'm a conservative leaning moderate. I mostly vote for the GOP but I'm more liberal on social issues like gay marriage. See how easy and honest that is? Why don't you try it?
i never lie. I am liberal on social issues, as I am pro-choice, and pro-gay marriage. I am against the cronyism and lobbyists influencing both parties. I am against lobbyists or Wall St employees put in administrations like Bush's Paulson, and Obama's Geithner. The GOP presently is too extreme off the cliff compared to the 70's, 80's, and 90's. Reagan wouldn't even be acceptable now. The only GOP I could vote for is Huntsman who has to pretend he is extreme, but is more moderate, sane, and thoughtful in reality. The RNC just wants elitist Romney as it's his turn, and Obama is more center right than you think. He voted along with Bush the majority of the time when in the Senate, so I voted for Hillary in the 2008 primary. Iowa and NH are only 0.1% of the country so stay tuned.
Iowa and NH, what went on during the caucus and primary, aren't an indicator at all of what would happen in a national election. Both sides need to keep that in mind.
Since you don't lie and you didn't address it I guess that a tacit admission that you were 100 percent incorrect about Reagan? Why afraid to admit a simple mistake?
So you are a modern liberal. If the modern "GOP" is too extreme for you then there isn't anything in conservatism for you, which leaves you as a liberal. You give me Huntsman. Does that mean you'd vote for Huntsman over Obama? You still didn't really give me a position on the right that you'd accept. You only really clarified what your liberal policies are geared toward. You are direct on that, but not on conservative beliefs. What about Huntsman, as a conservative, do you like? Or is it simply that he does have liberal beliefs here and there?
Why can you be so direct on the liberal side yet so vague that I have to pull teeth to get clarity on what conservative values you have to make you a moderate? I think its because you know you're a liberal and for the life of me I can't understand why you'd hide from it. Its just a term.
Obama isn't center at all, certainly not center right. He's a classic big government liberal who governs via ideology....

Obama isn't center at all, certainly not center right. He's a classic big government liberal who governs via ideology. I actually prefered Hillary because I believed she would be a practical candidate no matter her beliefs. I believe the exact same thing about Romney. The problem with Romney is the class warfare BS put out by OWS and general hatred of anyone who earned a level of means. It comes out in accusations and epithets about being a "corporate elitist" - yet those charges are rarely followed up with any substantive meat. Which is why I know its class warfare BS.
What the pundit said about the primaries was no Republican has won potus who lost in a previous primary in the past 30 years. I omitted that so it is a mistake, and my bad. Happy?
What you insist on calling me is of no consequence to me. I know what I am. I don't even know what a "modern" liberal is. I am not for big government, and think every department needs to be audited and stripped down. I agree with Paul about the wars and the addiction to the military/industrial complex. I want corrupt health insurance companies to be regulated by anti-trust. I want the Gramm-Bliley Act restored. I want every lobbyist run off K Street in D.C. I want Citizens United overturned and elections publicly funded. That is what both ideologies should want, government of, by, and for the people. Anyone who disagrees I would call a corporatist supporting continued purchasing of our government by the highest bidders.
Publicly funded elections? Haha, no. It has nothing to do with being a corporatist. I want to be able to have a voice by donating money to causes and candidates I support. And i think groups that want to band together to support their interests (lobbys) and businesses that employ americans ("evil" corporations) should be able to have a voice in the direction of the nation.
I also don't share your belief that Americans can't think for themselves, that money and marketing decide elections and that voters can only vote based on who companies tell them too. Thats absurd and insulting.
I want a government of, by and for the people. In that way I want every possible thought to have a voice. I'm not for silencing a point of view.
But then again I'm not biased like you. I don't agree with liberals but I don't feel the need to prejudge them by adding an epithet in front of them. Insurers by and large are not corrupt. That you head into the debate from that point of view shows that you're incapable of clear thought. Your bought and paid for by an ideology.
Donating to the candidate of your choice as an individual is public funding. Corporations are not people with free speech. No one is silencing any views. Yes, Americans can think for themselves if they can think instead of believing Super PAC prevaricating ads.
You're not biased? Don't make me laugh til my sides hurt. You are another right wing extremist masqueraging as a moderate bought and paid for by that ideology. To you nothing is wrong with corrupt capitalism, corporation lobbyists with influence financing campaigns, and more tax breaks for the uber rich.
So you don't believe that a company should be able to act in its own interests by donating to a candidate or against a candidate? Forbidding companies from donating money is silencing a point of view plain and simple. If candidate x is going to adversely affect the business of company y then company y should be able to speak out against x. It doesn't mean that anyone has to listen. But you want to shut them up.
I bet you wouldn't silence unions or other social special interest groups that want to donate or run ads. So you've singled out out area of opposition that you want to silence for your benefit. Thats fascist.
I have my opinion but I'm more than willing to listen to both sides. I don't characterize people I disagree with as evil - certainly not groups. I think Obama is a flawed politician with incorrect ideas on how to move the nation forward. I still think he's a good man that does what he thinks is in the best interests for the nation. How many RWNJs say that? Can you say the same about Boehner or Romney or Perry? I highly doubt it. Thats hwat makes you biased. your hatred and classification of the other side.
Also, how many extreme right wingers are very pro gay marriage? Believe that state run healthcare programs aren't a problem?
To me, the problem isn't ...

To me, the problem isn't with capitalism - its with corrupt individuals and companies (a handful) that need to be cut out by a calpel. There are many good individuals and companies that shouldn't suffer your wrath simply because you hate so much. Thats the difference between you and me. I take a clinical and thought out approach. You prejudge and hate an entire group and react on pure emotion with little thought.
A company, and yes a union too is made up of hundreds to thousands of employees so if company X or union X says we will support and will only fund candidate X all in that entity may not agree, and they shouldn't have to be a party to that or intimidated to go along with it.
So it's only a handful of corrupt individuals and companies? I say it has become pervasive over the last 30 years, and why we are where we are right now.
Face it. With a 2 party system it has become analogous to ones favorite football team that one will support no matter what. When they win one puffs up and brags, and when they lose one pouts and then blames the refs, or the weather, or the QB.
I don't hate people personally, but I hate what they stand for in many instances, and I reserve the right to call them stupid, or that they are feeding disinformation to the public, or they are making pledges to lobbyists that they have no right to do so.
If these 2 parties do not resolve to work together and cooperate instead of campaigning to stay in government we are doomed.
The people in union x or company x may not agree - but they still vote their own conscience. And the Unions and companies are acting in the best interests of the business which should benefit the employees. They don't have to agree with it, but the company is still acting in the interests of keeping them employed.
You and I have a much different world view and thats where the disconnect is. I see problems, but fixable with the right regulation and legal action. You see a more pervasive problem that requires the system itself to be attacked. We're constantly going to butt heads over that with no winner.
I don't think thats entirely true. I think its on the individual to keep the two party system in check. A lot of people treat it like sports, correct. But a lot of people want to see the best outcome. I'm in the latter group. To be blatantly honest, I see you in the former group the way you attack conservatives. Instead of trying to reach across to come to a friendly compromise you've labled certain types of people and businesses as enemies. Its the same thing the Limbaughs do to liberals. Its that sports mentality.
If more people disagreed instead of attacked we'd be in better shape. We'd realize that all people are just people with faults. Some are bad, some are good and...

Government and the private sector should be able to work together, not attack each other. Companies need to give in on some thing and government needs to give breathing room on other things so that the economy can grow. Accusatory policymaking is dangerous.
I think you need to relay this sermon to Congress. They need to hear it more than me. I'm tired of them acting like children, and only concerned about what the can extract from corporate lobbyists to keep themselves in power strictly for themselves.
No, people really like Paul better, but know he isnt electable. Romney the robot isnt going to win against Obama. If you elect on personality, Obama wins hands down, and by the election the economy will have improved somemore, and Obama will win.
Obama is holding his cards close to the vest, and keeping his powder dry. Something the Republicans have not been doing.
Late spring and all summer long the Obama BILLION dollar machine will be grinding up our candidate
Romney has his baggage and so do the others to varying degrees.
He has a lot to be worried about - which is why we already see liberals teaming up with Paul and Gingrich types to try and derail Romney the candidate.

I'm going to give you the chance to withdraw that statement in an edit so you don't look ignorant.
BTW - You're not a moderate. Moderates support issues and candidates on both sides. You're a classic liberal.
Not. True. So either you're plain ignorant or you like to perpetuate a lie in the face of simple fact.
