With Don Imus being fired for calling the Rutgers basketball team nappy headed hoes do you think that Air America should fire Randi Rhodes for her foul mouthed comments about Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro?

With Imus getting fired for just saying nappy headed hoes you would think the foul mouthed Randi Rhodes comment would certainly get her fired. But she is a liberal and has yet to get fired, because the liberal media has not made a big deal about like they did with Imus. Below is a portion of what she has said. If you want you can find the video on the internet of everything she said, but I am not going to put on my poll because it is just vile language.
Air America host Randi Rhodes called both Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton "whores" in a recent appearance. Rhodes, who hosts a weekday radio show on Air America, said to the cheering crowd, "What a whore Geraldine Ferraro is! She's such a f***ing whore!" She then proceeded to say, "Hillary is a big f***ing whore, too" to a mixed audience reaction. "You know why she's a big f***ing whore? Because her deal is always, 'Read the fine print, a**hole!'"

With the caveat that Clinton and Ferraro are public figures and are therefore subject to public criticism, I think that a line was crossed. Any employer worth its salt would terminate an employee that is responsible for such crass, tasteless, irresponsible namecalling.

Different scenerio. She's a white woman calling other white women whores, which they are- whoremongers, look it up in the dictionary. It doesn't bother me as much because she's not directly attacking their ethnicity, she's generalizing. Don Imus was trying to belittle female athletes by using the fact that their racial characteristics, meaning their hair, was nappy. He didn't say number 19 is a slow ass, and cant hang onto the ball, he said "those are a bunch of nappy headed hoes, therefore having a "racial" undertone. It is what it is.

I had always thought that Imus paid to have his show on the air...I still find it hard to believe that anyone would pay this old-gum-chewing fool!

I don't think they can fire her - her disgusting rant was in a club but sponsored by a Air America affiliate. On air, no question. They can reduce her air time and not renew her contract with out legal implications however. She states that she is a progressive Democrat and Obama supporter - glad she isn't supporting me.

Do you think if Rush made these remarks (off-air)he would have been fired?

There is a question of legality - the whole free speech thing. On the job, yes - you can fire someone -- off the job it gets dicey. Now, if you are talking about news coverage and pressure; no doubt about it - if a moderate or conservative had said anything like this it would be akin to an atomic bomb. You will notice that there was almost no mainstream coverage at all. Now that is just sad!

No -- I don't think he would have not, not if he made them off-air. There is such a thing as freedom of speech.

That wasn't really my point. My point was how the media was all over Don Imus when he talked about the Rutgers basketball team and now that a liberal went on a rant that was 10 times worse the media just seems to igonre it. It seems like kind of a double standard since she is a liberal

It has nothing whatsoever to do with her being a liberal and everything to do with where it was said.

It has everything to do with her being a liberal. If Rush had said this off the air do you think that people would have talked about for only one day and then stop talking about it. Liberals always get a pass in the main stream media.

She hasn't been endlessly gossiped about because almost no one knows who she is, not because she's a liberal. Why would the media bother covering what some very obscure talk person said in something she called a comedy skit? Whereas Rush would stay news because he's very well known.

It's not politics; it's what sells

I like Don for a long time. I know he was giving those fine young ladies a compliment in the lingo of the day and it was not understood by people who don't know Don which is understandable. It does sound horrible. I don't know Randi but she sure sounds raunchy. I hope she gets better.
