The moment has finally arrived. The Winklevoss twins have dropped their ginormous lawsuit against Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and settled.

Former Mark Zuckerberg business partners whose case inspired [the] movie 'The Social Network' say they will accept 2008 deal.

The Winklevoss twins dropped their appeal Thursday and said they would accept the settlement offer from 2008, which gives them a mix of $20 million cash as well as Facebook stock worth around $45 million or more.

The twins originally filed a lawsuit against Zuckerberg a few years back, claiming the entire idea behind Facebook -- the uber-popular social-networking site -- was theirs.

I think that the Vinklevoss Twins would have better luck if they were to sue their Parents for saddling them with a name like Vinklevoss.

What a couple of spoiled Creeps. They didn't do anything but row around in their silly boats while Zuckerberg did all the work! They should not have received this much. But now they should go away and dream up their own real idea about a new social network , if they are such geniuses.

Lol. Ok no rowing is a very worthy sport! In the movie they were portrayed as putting that above all else. That is all I meant.

Not so fast! That is only one part of the story!

"A day after Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss indicated they wouldn't take their fight with Facebook Inc. founder Mark Zuckerberg to the Supreme Court, they pushed ahead with another suit.

In a status report filed on Thursday in U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the twins and their business partner Divya Narendra told the court that they would push for discovery in a claim that Facebook "intentionally or inadvertently suppressed evidence" during 2008 settlement proceedings over whether Mr. Zuckerberg stole their idea for a Harvard student social network."

Zuckerberg is nothing but a car thief!

zuckerberg stole harvard student social network zuckerberg car thief

They sort of had the idea. Facebook didn't make it big until they made it open and available to EVERYONE. Which if it was up to the Winklevoss' they would have made it more of a elite society thing. Wouldn't have been worth half what it is now.

Having an idea and doing something with it are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. They got paid for their IDEA. Zuck gets the major bank for the BUSINESS WORK.

lol like you said an IDEA. No way in hell would I have paid them.

The court ordered it because the evidence of their participation and work in the building of it and creation through idea was documented within their project for school. We did something similar in my senior design project for my engineering degree. We created a video targeting and tracking system that I wanted to market to paintball places. If I had gone public and become a billionaire off of the idea they would have the right to the INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY nature of the project. After all I used their effort, their work, and their ideas for the creation of an item that was sold and made money. At the time I had no agreement with them that I would own exclusive rights so the 'business' would owe them for their 'fair portion'.

However, what they wanted was to be part owners of a business that they did NOT take part in creating. They are only due reciprocation for their IDEAS & EFFORT.

If they wanted to get rich, they should have gotten off their high horse and done the work themselves. Just coming up with an idea, without the brains to back it, just doesn't cut it. They shouldn't have gotten as much as they already did.
