Tyrants and wimps in action

The most offensive political type is the moderate. If you recall when Nancy
Pelosi ruled as the tyrant of Congress, she said to the opposing Party,

We won. Get over it.

This attitude horrified many. But I give her kudos. At least the lady
was passionate about the things she believed and met her opposition
head on. Nancy Pelosi may be a tyrant, but she is no wimp.

Contrast Pelosi’s rule to the time when the “compassionate
conservatives” controlled Congress. Everything was “let’s make a deal”
and “we don’t want to look like tyrants.” So they became wimps –
kowtowing to their opponents (the tyrants) to make friends, instead of
doing what was right by the American people. No wonder the American
people threw the wimps out.

I am a conservative with strong libertarian leanings. I can better
understand liberals who are at least passionate about the things they
believe, than moderates who are mediocre at best. I disagree
philosophically with the viewpoint of liberals. But I also appreciate
that their objective is noble – although in my opinion, unrealistic and
dangerous. That’s what makes them tyrants.

Christ to wimps: “You make Me sick!”

I am not the only one to find the play-along-to-get-along philosophy
of the mediocre moderates distasteful. So did Christ. In the Book of
Revelation, chapter 3 verses 14-18, Christ writes to the church of
Laodicea, which He calls “lukewarm.” He says clearly that He wishes they
were hot or cold. Because they are not, He spits them out of his mouth.
Strangely enough, that is not where the similarity ends. In verse 17 He
goes on to say that they believe they are rich and have need of
nothing, when in fact they are wretched, miserable, poor, blind and
naked. Unfortunately, this sounds like many modern-day political
moderates who have taken control of the once noble Republican Party.
They seem more concerned about preserving their power base through the
fine art of deal making (in which they have proved woefully inadequate)
than doing what is right. To them, making deals is right. To those who
think like me, doing what is right is right. As a result, they achieve
little and what they do achieve is watered down and practically
worthless.

The wimps score a coup, and tyrants stay in place
Seal of Virginia. Translation: Thus Always to Tyrants

Seal of Virginia, designed by George Wythe. The Latin translates as "Thus Always to Tyrants."

The wimps we now call moderates have managed one coup. They have
convinced the conservatives in this country that we must vote for them
or have another liberal keep control. What do we do? We keep a
clothespin handy to clip on our noses when we go to the polls on
Election Day and vote for the person they tell us can beat the liberal. Like them or not, we have swallowed the argument that it’s a necessary evil.

We do have a better choice. We just have to stop believing the hype. Josef Goebbels, Hitler’s minister of propaganda, once said:

If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.

Those now in control of the Republican Party have told us often
enough and loud enough that these moderate wimps are our best choices,
and we have believed them. When we have a better candidate, we must rise
up, support that candidate to the absolute best of our ability, and do
our best to convince others to do the same. Plato once said,

One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics, is that you end up being governed by your inferiors.

History has shown that both Goebbels and Plato knew what they were talking about.

Are you lukewarm?

How do you know if you are lukewarm? Do you know about a candidate
that you believe is better than the one the establishment backs? And if
so, do you either not vote or vote for the establishment candidate, who
they tell you has a better chance of winning? Then, my friend, you are
lukewarm. You have accepted mediocrity when you had a better choice. You
have become part of the problem instead of part of the solution. You
have believed the self-fulfilling prophecy that your candidate cannot
win. Because you have believed it you have made it real.

Yes, we do get the representation we deserve. The mediocre wimps that
represent us, came to power with the votes of the mediocre wimps that
go to the polls on Election Day. Actually, the truth is worse – they got
the “votes” of the mediocre wimps that stay home on Election Day and
don’t vote for the better candidate. Another truth – conservatives cannot win unless conservatives vote.
More than that, conservatives must vote for true conservatives and not
mediocre wimps. Often enough we have a better choice but are too afraid
to stand by it. As long as this prevails, we are doomed to get what we
deserve. Have I offended you? Then stand up and be counted. If you don’t
have a good candidate to stand behind, go out and recruit one. And if
you do have a good candidate to stand behind, then do stand behind them.

Where we stand and how to win

Right now we have tyrants and wimps representing us. That will not
change until we have passionate conservatives seeking out and voting for
passionate conservatives. I will end with another concept from the Book
of Revelation – “he who overcomes.” Never mind looking to your neighbor
to overcome the crisis this country is facing. It is up to you to stand
up, be counted, and overcome. The real choice is not voting for the
evils of two lesser; the real choice is either to submit to tyrants and
wimps, or overcome. I pray for my country that you will choose the
latter.

An example of standing up to be counted:

The article comes from someone who managed the campaign of a conservative candidate who lost out to the establishment because, as nearly as anyone could tell, "it was his turn," meaning the "turn" of the establishment candidate. Yeah, well, hey: he had his "turn" dozens of times and blew each of his "turns." Time to step aside.

But we have to tell those pals to step aside.

If it was ever possible for the "right" candidate to actually win the "big" election I would vote for him/her. But it looks like that is never going to happen in my lifetime.

I am reminded of the time about 45 years ago when I was being encouraged to run for mayor of my local city and I declined by telling my supporters that I would be assassinated before I was in office long enough to make any of the changes I was advocating.

Isn't that what we have already!!?? Settle? Noooooooooo this was voted in this way! I was duped right along with the rest of the voters that voted this guy in office! Just a few unemployment checks shy of the soup kitchen, makes it hard to explain to my kids how this all came about!!! I mean the whole hope and change thing really fired up our children throughout our school systems! Teachers are placing blame on the past! I tell my kids that the past is far enough away that it's time to place blame/credit where it's due............This is a failed administration filled with anti-Americans! Sicken me to know that you can't trust your party to do the will of the people!

There used to be some damn good liberals but they have been overshadowed by the Socialists, Marxists, Leninists and Communists that have taken over the Democratic Party.
Republicans have turned into the new Democratic Party. As far as I'm concerned they both suck.

and the people just havent figured this aspect out ,,

and the sheeples never will ..merely programmed zombies ,,,,looking for a hand out in a unsustainable world ( meaning there is very few sustainable jobs ) and the factions have driven the economy to this state of affairs ..both dems & wealth seeking repubs !

so when ya have nothing and few avenues for the future of sustainability , were ya gonna turn ?

who offers the best chance for sustainability ( unemployment isnt the answer ) welfare isnt either ....were /they were looking for a saviour ,, there isnt one ,,one to keep the people oppressed .(but promise a check every month ////) or one to deliver more debt .

repubs or dems merely different side of same rotten apple ...

the hope is for sustainable jobs " ...doesnt look promissing !

repubs are for crony capitolism or corporate america //and dems now as well .....but pretend to care for the people ...welfare /food stamps ...socialism "but they cant sell this as socialism "
so how is it marketed ??!!

you all tell me whisch side of the apple you gonna eat from ?

we fight to win, yet once, the battle we have lost, now we must fight, before tyranny should win the war, we must fight on, to do so we must still be in the game.

We can not see ourselves as "wimps" for knowing that winning the war is more important than any single battle.

The liberals that I think this piece is talking about are really not liberals they are Marxists. Big difference.
The lukewarm conservatives are the lapdogs of the Marxist party in control now. So in effect they are one in the same.

I can go for a passionate politician if that politician has a solid plan for all of us and not the ruling elites of this country like the academics and super wealthy or those living in apparent perpetuity on the govt plantation.

Yet the only thing we get running is elitist academics via law degrees and or wealthy people that can afford to run for office. Let's face it Romney like 0bama is not poor by any stretch of the imagination. So by their very income, which dictates life style, they are as close to the average American as a rock is to a tree. Which means they define poverty and they define jobs and they define domestic policy and foreign policy which by self interest will be for their benefit not ours.
The current president is a good example of this type of thinking. (Remember that he gave us all a health care bill that the majority of Americans did not want but he gave it to us because, in his mind, it was what we needed while he and his peers are given separate and better care because of their station in life.) Not that the next one will not do the same for the sheeple.

America has two main parties and several smaller ones that compete to represent the people on the issues and solutions to our problems.
And yes America is an ideological game piece. More correctly it has competing ideologies.
And if you were a decent American you would respect that and quit ridiculing people.
No one side speaks for all of us . . . and the only time it ever will is when we have tyranny.

But to answer your question, no, the only joke here is you . . .

In fairness... tyranny was defined by Jefferson as that which is legal for the government, but illegal for the citizenry. Recognition of individual liberty isn't an ideology - it's the only ethical means of human interaction and our country is desperately lacking that. If we're going to fight for something, that's the thing to fight for.

"We've been sold out by the influence of ideology... "

I can totally agree with that. But wouldn't it be nice if that were not the case? And if we had the opportunity to rectify that, wouldn't it be worth all the sacrifices in between?

There are huge chunks of society that, as we speak, are being divided and subdivided intentionally and solely so some demagogue can superimpose on their fears to advance him/herself personally. People from all walks of society are being told by govt. that they cannot exercise the most basic of human rights - freedom of association, private property rights, the rights of free speech, privacy and on and on and on. And entire groups are being persuaded into believing they've the right to "vote away" the rights of others. This shouldn't be so.

And there will come a point in the not so distant future when technological advancement will supersede any capability we may have now to take back our own freedoms. If it should be done and now is the time to do so - why wouldn't we?

So ethics has been destroyed by ideology?
Our founding fathers had an ideology that they forged into a government as outlined in the Constitution. Yet they maintained some ethics. But somehow that impedes your ability to be ethical?

I'm sorry Contard, but let's face it, you don't have any core beliefs.
I've asked you for them on several topics, and what you posted was equivalent to a fifth grader's attempt.

    Don't be naive, Contard.
Issues have risen since the Founders penned the Constitution.
Air pollution, TSA, stem cell research, taxing strategies, global warming, just to name a few. And not many of them can be resolved by what's written in the Constitution. There are different strategies and viewpoints on each of these issues.
So don't go all flag-waving on me and say, I'm a patriot. See the flag?

No, what you're here for is to bitch and complain and never offer any solution to any issue.
But at least you haven't said "Both sides suck" yet.
    So maybe you can learn.
