There are several Wildfires in Colorado and only a few are contained.
We also have wind in the forecast so there are several Evacuation
Alerts in place. Our high temperatures are not helping either. Among
the causes of these fires so far are: Lightning, Guns, Cigarettes,
Arson, and Fireworks. We now have a ban on Fireworks, BBQs,
Smoking outside and outside shooting of guns. Most of the Public
Firework Displays have been cancelled.

We also want you to remember there are Wildfires in other States
too...along with floods and severe heat with Power loss in the East.

There is some collective good from prayers but I also like to assist when I can. The personal contact and feeling of helping others is all I need. This is an advantage for being retired.

My heart and my prayers go out for our country that has been taking a beating
from the many natural disasters that have plagued us for years. I especially pray for
the victims whose lives have been struck down and drastically changed from these
untameable disasters. God bless America.

Yes. I know what is like to live a disastrous life. If praying helps anyone, I guess it is a small favor to do for another person. It is true that many involved in disasters have insurance policies and other money. Some others are not so lucky. It is particularly cruel to be turned down for benefits after a disaster, by a FEMA clerk that just "got here", and can barely speak the language we all speak. I know I've been there. You live in Florida? Are the floods still really bad there?
South Dakota had a flood last year in the Spring and
the water was still in Pierre at the end of Summer.

Prayers are useless. They may give some comfort to the person praying but that's it. Are you saying that God won't help them if we don't pray? Well. I'm not praying so will it be my fault if it doesn't go well for them?

Very sad! As a Californian who can remember a few years back when Los Angeles County was virtually ringed by fire I would most certainly not wish this on the fine people of Colorado!

Having a fire only a mile close to me last year waiting to be told to evacuate, I understand the fear of the chance of losing my home. I can't imagine the feel of loss and devastation of it actually happening:(

I am about 15 minutes from Boulder where one of the largest fires is but it is to
the West of Boulder over a Ridge. So far they have kept it there although it
isn't completely contained. We have 3 Major fires and only one is under
control. There are also several smaller Wildfires not under control not
counting the fires we are having in the Metro Area.
