Patriotism is one of those really dangerous ideas.

It leads people to do things like volunteer to fight in wars that we really shouldn't be involved in. It teaches people to blindly obey authority figures, even when they're just flat-out maliciously evil. It short-circuits a lot of critical thinking mechanisms.

It can be good, and definitely has its place. But it's disturbingly easy to take it way too far and just mindlessly obey.

.......... I do take Your point, and will apply it, as I post on Patriotism in the future, at least You agree, " it can be good " .......... as long as the Patriotism is strictly voluntary, and not literally forced down Our citizens throats.........thank you for Your reply........

Spent my entire life involved with the military and have been schooled on the flag....sadly yes, my flag will be flown in distress fashion until this nightmare is over. This is NOT disrespectful....please read the meaning.

Thank you Angelbaby....I do this as a sign to others on how bad of shape our country is in right now. I have had many people stop and ring my doorbell asking me why and I tell them, they agree. The best is when someone comes & stops and thanks me for doing it, most are military or former military...they are tell me how patriotic I am by doing it and thank me for honoring the flag and our nation. :)
I always thank them for their service as well.
I pray that you will not have to do it then.

Our nation is in distress as long as this occupier and his henchmen are where they are in our government...our lives are in their hands and Agenda 21 has our land....Never in our country's history has everything been so far removed from what our Founding Fathers envisioned for us.

YES. America lets its unborn children be slaughtered every year, with barely a peep. America lets bankers ruin the country and the world and get RICH off not just their crimes but OUR TAX DOLLARS. *Anyone* can now be declared an enemy combatant and sentenced to be imprisoned for life without trial or just assassinated.

The police have been able to accuse you of drug dealing and seize everything you own (along with freezing your bank accounts so you can't hire a lawyer) with impunity for years now.

China probably has more people in prison than we, but it's the only country that's even close by pretty much any measure.

The government can now order us to buy pretty much any product it sees fit. Another assault on private property that's even worse than plain old ordinary eminent domain seizures (which are horrible enough).

I'd say the country's in a lot of trouble. And that it's been building up for decades.
