Once upon a time, in the year 1956, the President of the United States signed a resolution into action which allowed for "In God We Trust" to replace "E Plurbis Unum" on all paper money. It was done because of McCarthyism and the numerous witch hunts in the name of preventing the spread of Communism by way of atheism.

It was around this time that "Under God" and "So help me God" were added to both the Pledge of Allegiance and Oaths of Office.

So really, there's nothing being "shoved" down your throat, on the contrary, it's actually rescinding something that was "shoved" down the throats of everyone for the last 60 years. I couldn't care less either way seeing as this hasn't been set in stone since the beginning of the country, it's not something that the Founding Fathers laid down that's now being ripped to pieces, in fact, it's just the government stopping a half century of fear mongering.

But that's really beside the point, isn't it? Because Obama is clearly Satan incarnate for doing this.

Superstitious craziness. What an intellectually bankrupt country we're living in.

Separation of church and state is a last bastion of reason. Support it and promote it!
Religious freedom can save America and the world, if we can stand in the way of these wacked-out Dominionist theocrats.

Did you make this one up, hazel? I haven't managed to find any reference to new coins being released without "In God We Trust" on them. There was an urban legend a few years ago stirred up by Sarah Palin and a few others claiming that the motto was being taken off our money, but it wasn't true.

It is true that when the George Washington Presidential coins were first release a few thousand of them ACCIDENTALLY were released without the In God We Trust imprint on the side, and the same accident appeared to happen to a few of the John Adams coins. But first of all that was in 2007, so it is certainly not "soon to be released", and second, starting with the William Henry Harrison Presidential coin they moved the "In God We Trust" to the front instead of the side (the "E Pluribus Unum" is still on the side). I wouldn't confuse an accident that affected about 1/10 of 1% of the coins released with intent to produce "Godless" coins.

    harrison

[And the sad part is that apparently the "godless" coins are doing very well on ebay - a John Adams "godless" coin recently sold for about $500 LOL.]

You do realize that the US Mint produces several thousand notes per year and distributes them via the Federal Reserve Banking System, right? They DON'T sell them on e-bay for a reason, it's called "fraud".

In God we trust is written on the rim of the George Washington Dollar.

I don't care what it says on it, I do care if it starts losing value by the day due to hyper onflation in any case, this story is not true.

That's okay, just flip the switch and you can have hyper off-flation.

Religion should have nothing to do with money.

"JUST ONE MORE THING THEY ARE TRYING TO SHOVE DOWN OUR THROATS"?

Isn't that what they did to every person in America who doesn't believe in God, when they first added his name to money? What's the difference, I mean beyond the fact that YOU don't agree with it and Christians will do anything to get and maintain preferential treatment above everyone else, even though America is founded on the idea that no religion should be above any other?

What do we do? We have protested peacefully and gone to town halls. They passed the healthcare bill. We voted in 2010 they block anything that would help. Do we need to march in mass into DC? They are not working for us anymore.

Your right we do protest and march. Problem is they don't listen. What do we do? I hate to say it but maybe we need to physically remove these people from office. Now I know this is not a popular thought and I know I'll get a bunch flack for saying it. But it may be our next option.

Trust me I have thought the same thing may have to happen. Whatever we say is falling on deaf ears. Thomas Jefferson said, "the tree of liberty must sometimes be washed with the blood of tyrants and patriots" and it is looking like that time has arrived.

Not yet and notice I have said not yet. I put nothing past our current leadership and what they are willing to do. The way our constitution has been shredded in the last few years especially. Is proof positive that power has corrupted our government. Which is why they have been trying to disarm since the 90's. Marxism and communism has shown you must disarm the populace in order to control. Just regulating us to death is not enough. Because our constitution allows us to challenge their regulations and our guns stop them from using force. Unlike that german minister during the Nazi era. We need to speak out when government is attacking our constitutionally protected rights. Otherwise it will be to late. Because eventually they will be attacking the american people with weapons. We are already considered enemy combatants on our own soil under NDAA.

Except for trying to get us out of two protracted wars (yet continuing one and even stepping it up while ADDING a third war in Lybia) while stepping down military spending... there's very little difference between Bush era policies and Obama era policies. Go ahead, compare and contrast.

    Gitmo isn't closed.
Most of the Bush Doctrine was not only NOT shut down, but expanded upon as well as continued.
Until Iraq finally wound down we where fighting three wars at once (Afghanistan, Lybia and Iraq).
The War on Drugs hasn't slacked off, in fact it has expaned, making drug lords even richer.
SOPA, PIPA and now CIPA have been put forth by special interests from Hollywood that want to destroy the competition and new market ideas presented by the Internet.

So aside from a lack of patriotism engendered by Americans embittered by a decade of war... What's the difference?

First off Bush isn't president anymore. So the comparison doesn't matter. Obama is president and every restrictive action they claimed Bush would do. Is happening under Obama. Right down to a push for Martial law.

You're right, Bush isn't president anymore, however his policies have been either kept or expanded upon by the current President. So you... sorta... just made my own point...

Actually no I didn't. Obama chose to keep the policies. He chose to expand them. Bush did not hold a gun to his head. If he really intended to lead differently or better. He had sorely failed in that regard. Don't get me wrong some of bush's policies I knew would come back to bite us in the ass. Which is why now more Americans are speaking up. Those policies are being abused by Obama.
