Hi all, Been following the various threads
and different opinions some that sound to me to be a final “conclusions” with
no room for debate or objectivity (non-productive). This is a good thing, in
that it demonstrates that issues and concerns are in the minds of the nation’s
people, they still remain at some level of communication and exchange, even
though it is often strained. Makes me grateful for the internet, wish everyone
had it (like the Boob Tube). IMHO, it is apparent that we were put in this
place to channel our dissatisfaction, victimization, and frustrations, perceived
or otherwise, against each other instead of the people, action or in-action
responsible for it. By focusing our frustration at each other, engaged in an
endless and more often than not uninformed un-productive debate or argument we loose
sight of (and an opportunity), to channel our effort and change things as they
are. I’m thinking that it is likely things will get worse for everyone which is
what motivated me to post this perspective. United, we can, after all, we live
in the UNITED States, not the Defunct States, right? This is NOT a contest
between us/them or two people (candidates), as in the case of a lottery ticket,
this is a debate that should be focused on us, the issues, the quality of life
and equality for all Americans, not the QUANTITY of profit and self-serving AGENDA
of a few. All the things that made us the greatest Nation on earth! Today, we
the people, still have the right, ability, will and power united, if WE don’t
use it we’ll loose it! Personally, I find it infuriating that our democracy and
those WE sent to protect it (many of them), would allow this level of divisiveness
fester among its people, and in some cases incite it or exploit it. You may ask,
how did it get to this? Simple answer, A majority of the 300M people in this
Nation have not embraced the purpose and value of their right to vote followed
by the impact it has on our lives.
I am hoping that this post might stimulate some balanced
and constructive discussion either here or other sites or threads. I would
encourage people to make an effort to set aside emotional or political divides and
remember that if collectively, we can stay on-topic and not drift, we can most
effectively merge our perspectives leading to a common ground and ultimately help
achieve an informed, responsible election result. Does anyone, and I’m sure
there is, have any ideas, opinions or issue we can discuss and share
perspectives on? Please start a dialogue, thanks, Ed

+2Thanks Mr Wayne, new at this and trying to encourage a productive discussion.reply - Mr Wayne EdVenture 2012/04/13 21:35:41

+1Good point, hadn't considered that. thanks for your interest. Edreply - Andy Fletcher 2012/04/13 21:16:27I'll try, My position is this ___________________ and....+1Since few things are truly black and white, I tend to qualify most of what I write or "say". Unfortunately, many here choose to ignore these qualifications and argue as if something said was set in stone. It's usually those who refuse to believe that there can be two sides to an issue.reply

+1Hi Andy, thanks for participating. I have spent time cruising the threads and continue to read hostility overshadowing what may potentially be good topic and enlightening. I'm finding that the quick off-the-top response people give fall short many times. Perhaps its too much to expect on my part in a public forum, not sure. Perhaps Mr Waynes point (above), makes more sense. Regards, Edreply - Andy Fl... EdVenture 2012/04/13 21:50:57
+1I'm not going to deny that I can go off the handle fairly quickly. I really hate when people take what I wrote and then argue something that can in no way be considered my words. Something in me just won't let that stand. I also hate one sided polls no matter who originates them. Disclaimers are fine and all, but some people want to offer up their opinion on a question and then try and claim their opinion is not open for discussion. They have no sane claim to such expectation.reply -
I'm of that persuation as well. What I have been doing is reviewing the post and responses before I participate hoping that somehow I will garner a good perspective or share my own based upon its own merits. Just a lot of flack out there.reply - Andy Fl... EdVenture 2012/04/13 22:47:10
+1I think you and have had a couple of times where we got along and a couple where we hooked each others inner child, lol. All part of the process.reply -
+1Granted, I'll keep my emotions more distant., regardsreply
