		Let’s see gun registration cards can be used voter identification and Student Ids cannot be used, this is nothing more than voter suppression.
		Even though there is no proof of voter fraud, we need to make sure people who are voting are who they say they are and have the right to vote.

If you can't win the election fairly, then you do whatever you can. You know the 91 year old WWII vet that was purged from the voters list in Florida, certainly didn't earn the right to vote (sarcasm)

I know there have been cases of voter fraud, just not publicized. Is registering to vote supposed to be so hard that it will keep voters from casting their votes? No but then again, I think you need to be registered to vote, and that vote should only count once.

Why not? The GOP has already gone after minorities, the elderly and hispanics. The youth vote only makes sense when it comes to their voter suppression tactics!

People should be able to use their work ID's also. The purpose of a photo ID is to match the person with the name, so why does it have to be a govt ID? This is going to affect alot of people, and I am hoping these laws go to higher courts and get overturned.

Because a work ID doesn't mean you are a citizen and if you aren't a citizen, you don't have the right to vote. It's not just to prove that you're the person in the photo, but to prove that you have the right to vote.

Duh, have you never voted? When you go to the polls, you go to a certain place for your district. For instance my voter registration card has my district listed as 404. It normally is listed in the local paper where to go and vote for that district. I go there and check in, and they compare my registration card to their lists of all the names of registered voters. They highlight my name on their list. I continue down the line and they give me the ballot and I vote. If you arent a registered voter, you wont be on that list. I found it interesting that when I went to vote the other day, I wasnt ask for a photo ID. Maybe because I am white?

DUH! I've been voting for as long as you have and, like you, I take my voter registration card with me. I had to prove that I was a citizen to get it. The argument here is that you should be able to use your driver license or some other piece of ID to vote. You don't have to prove you're a US citizen to drive or go to school. DUH!

Apology accepted. I have no idea how things work now. I registered to vote so long ago that things may have changed. What I do remember is that I had to bring my birth certificate with me and I had a Social Security card at that time.

In my mind, registering to vote should be a federal process that applies to everyone. You should have to prove your citizenship. I understand that many old people cannot do this easily, but kids today who are registering should have no problem obtaining their birth certificates.

Yes, when I first registered, I did too, but when I moved to Texas, I changed my residency from Wisconsin since I was going to live here and once I got my Texas drivers license, I filled out a form for voter registration and ever since then have received voter registration cards. I have never had a problem and being white, I probably never will which isnt fair to the minorities.

I wonder if they checked the Wisconsin voter registration to see if you were a registered voter before they issued your first card. I've lived in NY my whole life, so I have no idea what would happen if I moved to another state and whether the regs of that state would be different than any other state.

Good question. I would assume they did because I changed my residency to avoid paying state taxes in Wisconsin, and since this was my new home, why pay taxes there?

Everyone would have to have the same ID. Everyone would have to meet the same qualifications. If you have a birth certificate and or a SS Card there would be no problem. How on Earth does this block any legal voter from voting?

A birth certificate proves you were born in the U.S. but does not have a photo, so how do you know the person with the birth certificate is the person going to vote? A Social Security card does not prove citizenship, nor does it have your photo. This seems so simple to me, why is it so hard for others to understand that you have to be a citizen to vote - not be able to prove you are the person in a photo?

Most of America's youth can't wait to drive so they have a license which is proof of who they are. Nothing wrong with proving you have the right to vote because it keeps the election process honest. The only people that are against voter ID are the ones with something to hide and no right to vote and liberal/democrats that want to make sure that Obama gets reelected. NOBAMA in 2012!

NO!! It's just another red herring by the left-wing loons to ensure voter fraud is alive and well in November....the real questions should be 1) If you can't get a valid ID should you be allowed to vote (need one for everything), 2) Why is Obama and his cronies trying to block the military vote? 3) Is Obama afraid that even the youth have awoken from their stupor and realized Obama is a fake. 4) Is that's the reason that our great community organizer will try to make all illegals "legal" before the November election?

When I was at the university, I voted on campus as did hundreds of other students. Because many youth tend to vote Democratic, now that option is off the table. Still, many will find a way to vote if they can find transportation. Many students do not have cars on campus because parking is expensive and limited.

Voter supression is alive and well.

Your comment claimed that voter suppression is alive and well, I ASSUMED that you were blaming the Republican for suppressing the college vote because they are making it more difficult for students to get to the polls.

Are you, or are not not, claiming that Republicans are suppressing the student vote by making them travel to the polls?

Yes, that is precisely what I am saying. In the '08 election, university social forums were buzzing with Obama . By the time he arrived in Austin, home of the University of Texas, thousands of young university people were waiting for him.

The GOP Texas legislators took notice. Now , university students cannot vote on campus even if they have a DL and university ID. That is voter suppression.
