Will there EVER be PEACE in the MIDDLE EAST?

Probably not in my lifetime. Hopefully, but probably not. Fingers crossed. Would be nice.

Well Lets see. We have armed most of the countries. We have overthrown or killed most of the dictators who kept their countries under control. We have given WMD to the one Jew country and continue to pay them to be a terrorist perpetrator in the area. We have bombed four countries and destroyed the infrastructure. And now we threaten Iran because they are apparently getting ready to build ONE nuclear bomb.



And now all of a sudden the area is in chaos. Just at the time we are looking for a good reason to start a new war. Will the Middle East ever have peace? Not as long as we are there!

It's too complicated for an answer. The area has always been a problem and they have always tried to expand. Muslims are supposed to convert people to Islam or kill them.

I believe that's why UK et al drew borders and created the ME countries we know today. Tribes were divided and distributed into the new borders ostensibly to keep them apart. Of course it didn't work. That's the problem.

It is a fools game to try to change a culture 1000s of years old. They are what they are. None of our business........But they do hold most of the oil. And because big oil stifled all inventions in the past that could have broken our dependency from it-here we are as stupid and dependent as always.

How is it possible that we can know how much oil everyone has, really?

I'm certainly no expert on oil but I have read many experts opinions. The tar sands and bakken (sp?) oil reserves are not easily drillable and cause more environmental damage, through fracking and aquifer pollution, then they are worth. The area in Canada is an ecological catastrophe. Fracking poisons the earth and is suspected of causing earth quakes.

Most of the easily obtainable oil has been found. Now it is drill deeper and in more dangerous places to keep the "happy motoring" nuts happy. Case in point is the Gulf of Mexico disaster.

Okay, start with the Green River Formation in Wyoming: 1.4 trillion barrels—sixty-two times as much as Obama counts.

After Green River, count other sources: 86 billion on the outer continental shelf; 24 billion in the lower 48; 2 billion on Alaska’s north slope; 19 billion in Utah tar sands; 12 billion in ANWR. Then add in oil shale: 800 billion just in Wyoming and neighboring states. As IBD sums it up: “When you include oil shale, the U.S. has 1.4 trillion barrels of technically recoverable oil, according to the Institute for Energy Research, enough to meet all U.S. oil needs for about the next 200 years, without any imports.”

These estimates are almost sure to rise over time—to anywhere from three or four to twenty or twenty-five times as much. Those are the ranges of error on past official estimates of recoverable oil.

It's hard to find the truth these days but it's out there if you're willing to dig.

Well the question is why would we be destroying the Middle East if we had all the oil we needed for 200 years? Maybe digging is what is needed.

The Middle East has been a violent place more than 1,100 years BEFORE the US came into existence. They have also wanted to rule the world with Sharia law before the US came into existence.

We didn't start the fire. They did. And they have kept the fire going since the 7th century.

Funny thing. I was born in 1950 and hadn't heard a thing about Muslims until 1979. And I believe we were somewhere where we had no REAL business.

I don't care what their religion is or their law. If the West had stayed out of the region they would still be carrying water on their heads and riding camels. We are the problem.

If it hasn't occured in the 1st 5000 years of human history, i don't have much hope it will become peaceful anytime in the near future. Likely not in my lifetime.
Obama's foreign/middle east policy essentially collapsed the Camp David accords, the ONLY thing Jimmy Carter did correctly is now in the waste bin of history.

There has NEVER been peace in the Middle East... As long as there is predominantly Muslims ruling the majority area then NO there will never be peace... They will never allow the Jews or Christians to coexist within the Muslim population without some form of friction going on.......

Only when there is"ONE" religion will there be peace in the middle east.
That would mean killing off, or deporting "ALL" the other religions.

What makes you think that if "one side" destroyed the other, that another side won't appear to provoke violence on a new set of terms? What makes you think that the sides can be destroyed in the first place?
