The broader issue is the one that's most important. The American government is looking for a pretext, any pretext, to war in the middle east...in the name of controlling oil reserves and ignoring domestic issues. Millions of Americans live below the poverty line; until Obama millions were without health care, many of them children; corporate crime is at an all time high. If you travel outside the US and it's media, the world is in total agreement. It is a moral indictment against America to be using 9/11 to proceed with their geopolitical and personally political agenda. It is a crime! America needs to hold it's government accountable by shredding the propaganda and the lies surrounding the desire to go to war. The aim of American politics is to keep the public alarmed. These Middle Eastern regimes are essentially no different than they've always been; but, it was ok that they use wmds and chemical weapons on the Kurds, for example. The US will make friends with any thug or murderous bully who would advance short term economic or political interests around the globe. Who the hell are you, that you think you can replace other countries' governments? What the hell are Americans' tax dollars doing going toward killing kids halfway around the globe? There is no greater guarantee to making our lives less safe than to economically and politically try to control countries in the Middle East. It is like setting up terrorist recruitment centres. The US government is like a drooling dog after a steak....and that steak is oil...It's a huge poker chip. The rest of the world knows what you're up to. The rest of the world is much more afraid of the US than any Middle East country and it believes the US has gone out of its collective mind.

By choosing no, I mean in our lifetimes. The Muslim faith has a 1,400 year history of teaching violence that has faithfully been pass down from as rote learning ever since to the very young.

That sort of brainwashing can't be turned around in a couple generations.

Maybe if they were nuked in quite a few countries all at one time, it might cause a shift but even then the reaction of many would be to dig their heels in. Japan turned itself around due to being nuked. They had been undefeated in wars for many centuries and believed they were superior to all. But the Muslims are so spread out and the rote training is so pervasive...

That's is stupid. Nukes are never the answer. Japan changed because we wanted to change. not because some idiots decided to use nukes. Violence is never the answer. Two wrongs don't make a right.

The idea that Japan wanted to change isn't historically accurate. The Japanese soldiers fought to the death on island after island. The Japanese people were ready to fight on the island of Japan as well, with the civilian populace armed and ready for an invasion.

Remember it took two nukes and not one for Japan to surrender. Even after Hiroshima was completely destroyed, Japan did not quit. Although the first bomb was dropped on August 5th, 1945, and the second on the 8th, Japan didn't announced its surrender to its people August 15th.

My question is, "Would a series of nukes in different Muslim countries bring the same kind of shift?" I don't know the answer. It would certainly wake up a portion of the believers in a shocking and startling way. Other than that, no change is going to happen, but that doesn't mean the US should go dropping nukes all over the place..
