Apple's big news on Monday wasn't about an iPhone 5, like many hoped for, but rather the unveiling of the iPhone 4S -- which Apple accidentally announced a few days ago when they updated iTunes beta with a premature welcome message. But while it's not technically a next-generation phone, it has some remarkable upgrades that will appeal to gamers.
According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, the iPhone 4S will have an A5 chip (the same chip used in the iPad 2) that will double the device's CPU speed, and a dual-core graphics processor "seven times faster" than the iPhone 4. It will also have an extended battery life, 14Mbps download speeds, and an 8-megapixel camera.

During Tuesday's keynote announcement, Mike Capps of Epic Games brought out "Infinity Blade 2," the sequel to one of the most graphically spectacular mobile games on the market. Capps said the game "allowed us to demonstrate the true potential of triple-A handheld gaming by delivering mind-blowing graphics and awesome gameplay to millions of mobile users. [It will] take full advantage of the processing power of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch."
The iPhone 4S will be released on October 14, and will run you from $199 to $399, depending on how much memory you want. "Infinity Blade 2" won't be out until December 1, but you'll still be able to try out the original, which has already made more than $10 million in sales, on the 4S while you wait.
