Will the GOP cut off it's nose, not give the Senate passable bills or will they stop the coming tax cuts expiration and automatic cuts in last summers debt extension?

By passing bills like the Ryan budget, cutting child health care, cancer screening for women for student loans (opposed to 20 billion to big oil), the GOP is cutting off it's own nose to spite it's face. Dubya tax cuts will expire with both the rich and middle class getting a tax hike. The debt ceiling automatic cuts will lose 100,000 jobs in defense (mainly in red states) and 100,000 more elsewhere. By drawing a line in the sand nothing will get done. Gingrich learned his lesson about lines in the sand when the government was shut down, then compromised with Clinton. This GOP is intent on blowing things up with compromise akin to treason. They will pay a stiff price in coming elections when it hits the fan. Since the shellacking things have gotten worse under the GOP in states and the federal government. Cuts they propose has seen the UK and Spain both in a recession. The UK has over 10% unemployment and Spain over 20%. The American people should come to their senses and move this country forward not backward. 2 trillion sits on corporate balance sheets waiting for demand. Increasing that 2 trillion will not create jobs since only a fool expands without a market.

Whatever happened to "Country First". The GOP is already trying to get out of the cuts when the Super Committee failed to come to an agreement, plus they are trying to take funds from the ACA to pay for keeping student loan interest at 3.4%. The teacons no doubt will make another stink about raising the debt ceiling, and again tie Boehner's hands to make any deals. They are no doubt going to continue their sabotage until November just as they planned the night of the president's inauguration.

I think all the House bills are good. The Senate should pass them instead of sitting on them.

By law all budgets originate in the House. The Senate can only amend a House budget. This Senate has voted not to debate the GOP's 3 budgets, more than I can say for invoking a fillibuster by the GOP on over 500 brought to the floor bills.

Something that is giving Team Obama much hope and no doubt is much concern for Team Romney is the Electoral College. Romney has to pick up Obama states from 2008 as well as Virginia and Ohio, and he's not looking that good in those states at present.

At present , there is no way Mitt will get to 270 unless Obama hits his mother in law with an axe or Mitt finds a way to woo Hispanics and women and actually reveal a platform that is not reliant on jargon and finger pointing. Forget gay voters. Not going to happen.

There is only one thing for Romney to do. He has to do a major flip and tack center. When he does, Team Obama will be on him like a chicken on a June bug.

These guys don't care as long as someone keeps handing them quarters to play the political game.

It would be no surprise if one of them stood up in Congress one day and started giving the official cry of the rooster, "cock-a-doodle-doo." Makes just as much sense as anything else they say and do.

I think if they give in to the administration and allow more unchecked spending and costly tax increases they would be cutting off their noses. So I suspect they will continue doing their jobs sending common sense bills to the Senate where Reid will have to own the fact that nothing has happened.

Passing a 4 trillion debt reduction with 3.3 trillion in spending cuts was walked away from after Speaker Boehner agreed to a deal in the WH. 800 billion in mostly loophole closing revenue could not get past a Norquist pledged caucus. Sen. Lugar a conservative that has earned the nation's respect is behind a Tea Party loser that is a Norquister. That is how far gone the GOP has become.

I have spent a lot of time watching debates on C-SPAN this past 18 months and I have little faith that the GOP will do anything other than block government. It has gotten so bad that our Maine Representative Snow has decided not to run for re-election. Her explanation is that she was in Washington to accomplish legislation, not to block it. Smart woman. That would be the GOP stopping a vote on their student loan bill. Newsflash to over 400 Pelosi house passed bills that never got a vote in the Senate were more than the 30 previous years combined.

House sent a bill to senate already and senate refused to even bring it to floor. Btw...democrats wrote this time bomb purposely in the bill originally to try and invent a campaign issue.

The current tax policy / rates have shifted the tax burden more on the rich than ever before while removing 50% of people from the tax rolls. I disagree with this policy. Fair taxation would be equal taxation which hasn't existed before. Obama is proposing raising everyones taxes unless you don't pay fed income tax...then you get more free stuff.

In case you still prefer to be uneducated, this president has lowered taxes. 275 billion in tax cuts in Stimulus, more college tuition credits, more capital expenditure writeoffs for business and more small business health care cost writeoff.

Income tax rate, ROFLMAO. It is what you actually pay not the rate. Billionaires pay 18%, I pay over 30%. Under Ike the top had a 92% rate, they paid 52%.

how about a flat tax. NO ONE should have to have half of their earnings taken. Billionaires pay a larger share of their income, and the same rate on capital gains, as you. This class warfare crap has to end.

I don't think they'll change a thing at all. Dick Luger maybe losing the seat he held for 36 years, because he was willing to compromise. That's a campaign promise the Tea Party seems to be keeping. When it comes times to renew the Bush era Tax cuts they will simply expect that they are passed. And they'll probably get it.
