Will Starbucks Take Over the Tea Industry?

Starbucks is the King of Coffee Shops, but can it expand its empire to include tea, as well? The Seattle-based corporation will launch its first tea bar this year near its headquarters, where customers will be able to choose from more than 80 different types of tea that they can blend together as desired. It's not clear what the bar will be called, but The Huffington Post reports that it will not use the same logo.

So far, Starbucks has not announced any plans to expand the business beyond a single outlet, but they will be teaming up with Tazo, a billion-dollar brand, so chances are there are bigger wheels in motion behind the scenes. Do you think Starbucks can dominate tea like it does coffee, or will this just turn out to be a failed experiment?

I never liked the coffee there. So, when a friend insisted on going there, I thought to myself "I'll have a tea. how can they screw that up?"

I don't know what happened, but they screwed it up. I only but bottled water, if anything, if I am forced to go there now.

Let them take over the Tea Party; that should kill 2 birds with 1 stone and we'll be well rid of both

How true. I mean, the last thing America needs is a polite group of soccer moms and dads in baseball caps who want to promote fiscal responsibility and a reduction in government waste of tax dollars. What we need is more 'Occupy' folks -- for every community a crapped-on police car and riots in the streets!

Now, what was your point exactly?

The people you describe are hardly representative of the gullible, inarticulate sheep that the Koch Bros were leading by the nose and busing around the country.
And the representatives they elected seems to have been inordinately fascinated with the state of the vaginas of the nation and not enough with the fiscal crisis except when there was a chance to frustrate the Democrats.
And, they suck even harder at math than they do at reasoning as evinced by the Pollyanna Budget Plan they cooked up in late 2011.

They only think they are smart and free but if the Preamble were to be written by an honest TeaBagger, it would begin "We, the Sheeple"

Bless your heart. Every word of your post is directly from the mainstream media, including of course the required reference to the evil Koch brothers. (Have you ever heard of George Soros? Are you aware of the economic disasters he takes credit for? Google Soros and British pound sterling and see what you get.)

The Tea Party is made up of average Americans who are scared, really scared, of the direction this country is headed. Until you have done some real research (and that does not mean watching MSNBC or reading the Huffington Post, my friend) you are stating opinions which you have gotten from others, and which are not based on any knowledge of the subject. Please, please spend some time on doing your own research. Your box is very small at this point; try opening the lid.

Take a good, hard look at who the Tea Party elected, how they behave and what they truly stand for - I have.
(Note: don't just listen to what they say are their guiding principles; look at what the y DO)
My opinions are not based solely on the news but any one who, after the past few years can't see that the Tea Party is a bunch of small-minded, hate-filled posers who've been co-opted by corporate interests is very much stuck in the box.

I'd like to see you discuss the "Occupy" folks...
  • Bannor ... Mtnsmith 2012/06/25 17:54:58
    Bannor Haruchai
Sure. They have the right idea and didn't bring guns to the party, unlike those "polite" Tea Partiers, who were also going around disrupting and heckling Democratic Town Halls, shouting questions without giving a chance for a response.
But, the OWS folks aren't very effective and their public displays, which have gone on too long, have become tiresome.
They need a change of strategy and to up their game to getting their leaders elected or in positions of real influence.

For the record, there have been over 5,000 arrests at Occupy events across the country for crimes including rape, assault, suspected murder, vandalism, and arson. (Check out the rock-and homemade-bomb throwing incidents earlier this year.) And you call Tea Partiers 'hate-filled'? The only racial incident at a Tea Party event happened when a hired thug attacked a conservative black attendee, because he dared to step off the plantation and have his own views.

There are lots of videos of interviews with passionate Occupiers who had no clue, when questioned, what exactly they were passionate about (other than that someone else should be forced to pay their mortgages and student loans.) One of my favorites was a woman who argued with the interviewer (who had lived for some 20 years under eastern block communism) that communism was good and North Korea "had a better economy and jobs outlook that the US."

FYI, the number of arrests at Tea Party events...zero. They even clean up their trash and put it in the trash cans when they leave, unlike the nasty mess left behind by Occupiers.

My point bears reiterating. I just don't believe you are aware of all the facts, and are repeating what you've heard in the liberal media. (The same liberal media who refuses to report on incidents the...

(The same liberal media who refuses to report on incidents they don't like, including the apparent moratorium on the 'Fast and Furious' disaster. If you are scratching your head and asking what is Fast and Furious, or worse, saying it is no big deal, I rest my case.)

The attorney general of the US oks sending assault rifles across the border into Mexico, without informing the Mexican government, and 200 Mexicans and two American law enforcement personnel are killed with these weapons... the AG then tells lie after lie about his involvement (starting with "I didn't know anything about it", which then became "I only found out about it recently" which was proved to be a lie; then he began stonewalling and refusing congressional requests for information.)

You and I have a very different idea of what constitutes "no big deal." And to say the president doesn't care about guns not aimed at him goes directly against his own stated views on gun control.

Futher discussion is pointless here, because you are unable to hear anything that does not fit your preconceived notion of Noble Liberals vs. Evil Conservatives. Too bad, because your intolerance is blinding you to a whole world of facts that make for a more well-rounded world view.

Don't pin your perceptual shorcomings on me.
I'm not the on being sidetracked by a made-up rightwingnutbar conspiracy compared to the very real loss of speech and power by the average citizen thanks to a polarized court and a purchased Congress.

FYI... using the phrase "rightwingnutbar conspiracy" says just about all that needs saying about your opinions.

End of discussion. Some are able to leave the cave, and some refuse.

Did you watch the Republican debates? I did.
There were an awful lot of folks, both onstage and in the audience who are clearly troglodytes.

I am truly sorry that you are so enraged at whatever it is in your life that you have to let off steam by screeching unpleasant names at anyone who crosses your path.

If you were still in 6th grade you'd earn yourself a trip to the principal's office.

And no, just for the record, you have NOT taken a deeper look into Fast and Furious. You have gone to a couple of blogs written by people with your same lack of knowledge and sense of rage toward anyone who dares question their opinions. That does not constitute research.

Too big & diverse to conquer, most tea is consumed with an Eastern Cultural mindset, coffee use is Western & I see a nasty culture clash hangover looming.

No, and I wil continue to buy my tea from a local independent tea shop. I enjoy tazo tea, but I need variety. Tazo can not eliminate all competitor brands. The best tea is from Japan imho.
