France’s Socialist president, Francois Hollande, has proposed rasing the tax rate to 75 percent on income above 1 million euros ($1.24 million) a year, a proposal that liberal actor Will Smith expressed surprise over – but did not disagree with – when asked about it earlier this year.

Will Smith is a very vocal supporter of obama and his socialist policies yet when it comes to paying his 'fair share' Will Smith doesn't seem too eager.

Why?

Because liberalism means you don't have to be consistent. So long as you claim to support redistribution for the poor, you are free to steal and be greedy without condemnation.

This is why the richest men in America support Obama.

Our taxes here in the states might be 60 to 70 % when you figure in federal and state income taxes, FICA taxes, personal property taxes, real estate taxes, sales taxes, gas taxes, utility taxes, etc.

Not to people on welfare. They don't earn what they get from the tax payers. If welfare types pay any taxes (sales tax for example) it is not on icome that they worked for. Even the working poor (and we have millions of them in the states), pay taxes - but not at as high a rate as middle class wage earners. I was amongst the working poor when I paid my own way through university, and I still paid taxes such as sales tax, gas taxes, utility taxes, personal property tax, etc.

With this economic malaise we are going through, I am sure there are a lot of people on what we can term as welfare. That is like was Roosevelt's New Deal welfare?

Yes, through no fault of their own. People who have been laid off due to the stinking economy need to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. But, I would not be surprised to learn that women who have never done an honest day's work, and with illegitimate kids are given precedence over the unemployed who had worked for years.

It's actually perfectly consistent. American Democrats (I refuse to use the term Liberal, it does not apply to their platform) want to redistribute *other* people's money. If they were actually interested in the equal redistribution of wealth they'd give it away.
