Both parties have sidebars to distract the American people from the really important dynamics of what's going on in the world and at home.
Democrats want to retain power so that they can create a nanny state and grow big government. Make Americans dependent on entitlements and give-away programs and you will have a voter for life.
Republicans want Americans to be vibrant, accountable, and responsible citizens. They want to reward success and give hand-outs as a temporary help, not a life-time deal. They may struggle with that since Americans are becoming more lazy and polarized.
Will Republicans ever stop using gas prices as a political ploy?

Chevron has posted million dollars quarter for the last 10 years and continue to flourish thanks to Congress and other regulators for letting them charge high prices. They are based in CA and yet we have the highest prices in the country.
People say during dubyas terms he had lower prices. Part of that is inflation has crept up ten fold so blaming obama for prices is a non issue. In case you haven't noticed they have dropped and the GOP has stopped babbling about it.

During the campaign in 2008 Obummer 'WANTED' the economy that Bush left behind, and used the ' fixing thereof ' as a premise for his election.
A bit later, he made a speech saying that 'people claim that this is my economy, "Give it to me!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?...
Immediately AFTER this, it was "Wah, Wah, sniffle, I inherited this economy and it's all my predecessor Bush's fault". Meaning that, 'Whenever things that I do go wrong, it's not MY FAULT, it's Bush's fault.' And it's still Bush's fault. And it will continue to be Bush's fault for the next four years, if Obummer is reelected, so that he can CRY some more because of his own mistakes that he will blame on Bush. Bush,by the way, who is in Texas, not Washington D.C. and is not in the White House sending failing bills through by circumventing Congress.
Get your fearless leader to quit crying and blaming Bush for things that Bush didn't do and Obummer does by himself, and MAYBE we can lighten up on Obummer and the gas prices as bit. But it's not likel...

But it's not likely that Obummer would ever step up and admit to his own mistakes, so we may as well forget that one. Bush left a $480 billion deficit, and what is it now that 'Mr, Fixit' has been in office for only half the time Bush was there??????? That's what I thought...
Unfortunately in this day and time, these two things are overlooked as being able to coexist as they have for over 225 years in the past. If EACH Party would stop, and just assume for a few minutes, that the other Party may actually have THIS Country's best interest at heart they might be able to accomplish something. I don't believe that all the Democrats are Liberal/Progressive (formerly Socialistic), although many are. Just like I don't believe that all the Republicans are against abortion for any and all reasons, although many are. I do believe that if a Democrat has the best ideas and 'PLANS' (which Obummer never had, or at least didn't make known), that would benefit America, MANY Republicans would vote for the Democratic Candidate. And vise-versa, if Democratic Party members actually believed that the Republican Candidate had a better plan for Am...

This is how the elections are supposed to be conducted, based on who the voter feel is the best candidate to handle the government that he/she will be responsible for. I have NEVER voted for the Conservative/Republican/Right Wing Extremest just because I am a registered Republican. I have always voted for the best person I felt would help America in general.
The failure to communicate comes from staunch Party pressure. Like Bob Beckel said on 'The Five' something TO THE EFFECT OF, 'my dad would take me to the polls and tell me to vote Democrat straight down that side of the card. But if I didn't vote Democrat my dad would whip me'. Just as I am sure that Republicans have experienced this as well. It also comes from people believing that their candidate can do NO WRONG just because they are registered in that particular Party, and they feel that even if he/she does do something wrong, they will straighten it out - rather than jump on their candidate just as badly as they would the opposition candidate if he/she had done the exact same thing.
If Congress would stop being little children like Obummer is being (by circumventing Congress because he doesn't have enough support to pass his bills on either side), and they could really be just a bit more understanding on both sides, there could be some good compromises that would benefit the American people. Is this too much to ask? Probably so, because people would be forced to consider the other person's thoughts, and the possibility that someone else may have a better idea. That just cannot happen in too many minds.
I know of no Democrats that are Socialist. If a person is a Socialist then the would call themselves Socialist. The word Socialist is thrown around to easily by the right wing and their minions, and it's for political propaganda. In fact the Democratic party is more of a moderate Republican party of the past. As the Republicans have moved to the extreme right, the Democrats have moved to the center.
They are so wearisome.
