The U.S. State Department is actively considering negotiations with the Egyptian government for the transfer of custody of Omar Abdel-Rahman, also known as “the Blind Sheikh,” for humanitarian and health reasons, a source close to the the Obama administration told TheBlaze.

The Department of Justice, however, told TheBlaze that Rahman is serving a life sentence and is not considered for possible “release.” Previous calls to the State Department were referred to the Department of Justice and so far, the State Department has neither confirmed nor denied the report.

The Blind Sheikh is currently serving a life sentence in American prison for his role in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, but the newly-elected Islamist government in Egypt has been activelypetitioning his release. Many have pinpointed a cause of last week‘s unrest in in the country to be protests over the Blind Sheikh’s release — not an anti-Muslim YouTube video.

For a few moments I thought to select D choice thinking that he will not wish to create controversy but then I realized that if he loses or wins in November he will have at 45 days of flexibility to do whatever he wants. If he loses he will release the blind muslim out of spite for us and if he wins he will release him to please muslims

I do not think Obutthead will and well he shouldn't. Several nations have worked hard and long to bring him hear. If there were going to let him go they would have failed on the extradition.

Why are they even discussing it? He will release him and if he's not re-elected he'll release him before he leaves office.

If he does, it should do it from a C130, 20,000 feet above Cairo, while handcuffed to the sheik.

He will because he has no spine. He shouldn't because the Sheik is murdering piece of filth who will be welcomed in Egypt as a hero.

If the Sheik goes, Obama should go with him.

He can wait 6 weeks and do the release after the election. Which is probably his plan.
