Obama has been a train wreck. With Europe crumbleing due toy he exact same failed policies the democrats have been pushing for years, it has become more clear than ever that democrats are either completely oblivious or so selfish that they are willing to burry our own children in debt , steal from their neighbors, and destroy the entire country all to avoid simply working and taking care of themselves as everyone is fully capable of doing. Obama even knows his party is nothing but thieves. Has he ever even made a speech where he was not promising to steal from some Americans, have the nerve to vilify those Americans he is robbing, and then promise the stolen goods to his petty thief followers. The democrats should just change their name to the petty thief party. Really, what idiot could look at Illinois, we're more innocent people were killed in Chicago than in Afghanistan, Illinois is beyond broke an cant even pay their bills, businesses are fleeing in droves, and there is some of the highest unemployment in the country, and riddled with corruption, and then say hey, we need someone that has no experience at all except from the failed state to be president. Are there really that many stupid And oblivious Americans. If Obama does win, it will be a very sad verification that half the country are selfish and theiveing morons.

Top 10 Reasons to Vote for Ron Paul

    Ron Paul 2012
This entry seeks to serve as a critical response to an article which has been circulating regarding the stances of 2012 presidential candidate Ron Paul.

While I do not agree with Dr. Paul on many issues, I’m writing this article deliberately as a mirror of the article “10 Reasons Not to Vote for Ron Paul.” I believe that the author’s interpretation of Ron Paul’s stances in all cases is incorrect.

Although Summer accurately describes his positions, the implications and connotation drawn come from dishonest intentions to defame Dr. Paul.

As a defense of liberty and Ron Paul himself, I present to you my own “Top 10 Reasons to Vote for Ron Paul”, contra the AddictingInfo article. In no particular order:

    1. Ron Paul Values Individual Rights

The article makes the following claim: ”Ron Paul does not value equal rights for minorities”, and then cites his stances on repealing affirmative action, limiting the scope of Brown v. Board, as well as various other stances on the IRS and immigration. The stances which Summer [the author] writes about do accurately represent Dr. Paul’s ideas, yet the author’s implied meaning of these stances is downright false.

Paul rejects the concept of “collective rights” and as such he believes that groups of individuals (be it minorities or corporations), do not have any more rights than individuals. In fact, Summer’s entire paragraph may be true, yet the connotation presented is highly misleading. In fact, Walter Williams, an African-American libertarian thinker, endorses Ron Paul on the grounds of Paul’s high esteem for the rights of individual – regardless of that individual’s race, sex, ethnicity, religion, economic status, etc.

Williams actually finds the concept of “collective rights” to be demeaning to minorities. He argues that to demand that collective rights exist which are superior to other people’s rights is to deny the individual the right to free speech and expression (so long as force is not initiated). Ron Paul concludes that it is the antithesis of freedom to claim that a group of individuals have more rights than a single individual. By this view, there is no gray area in determining whether rights have been violated; you cannot “partially violate” somebody’s liberty. He values individual rights and freedom above all else, as protected under the Constitution. Here are links to these bills: H.R.3863, H.R.5909, H.J.RES.46, and H.J.RES.42.

Freedom is essentially a condition of inequality, not equality. It recognizes as a fact of nature the structural differences inherent in man – in temperament, character, and capacity – and it respects those differences. We are not alike and no law can make us so. – Frank Chodorov

    2. Ron Paul Leaves Abortion to the States

Far from Summer’s comment “Ron Paul would deny women control of their bodies and reproductive rights,” Ron Paul will actually leave abortion laws up to the states to decide. On this issue, Congressman Paul is perhaps of the same mindset as Dennis Kucinich (Rep. OH), who thinks the government has no role in passing laws limiting a woman’s “right to choose”, yet who would personally discourage abortion.

This is an affirmation of our individual rights, as shown in (1). As a doctor, Ron Paul refused to perform abortions as a personal preference only. It is a misconception that Paul would pass a federal anti-abortion mandate. However, it is true that he has a strong inclination towards being pro-life.

It is likewise true that he has sponsored a Sanctity of Life Bill which defines life at the start of conception. In this bill, he leaves the issue of abortion up to the states despite his erroneous definition of life. Ultimately, issues such as abortion, homosexuality, drug use, pornography, etc. will be left up by Dr. Paul to the states to decide. For this reason, Paul believes the Federal Government has no place in saying what an individual can and cannot do, so long as that action does not harm anybody else. Freedom is a two-sided coin, you cannot affirm one side and regulate the other without contradiction. Ron Paul recognizes this and acts on this, even if he personally is led to believe otherwise. I see this as a huge mark of his integrity. Please see these links: H.R.2597 and H.R.392.

If you are not free to choose wrongly and irresponsibly, you are not free at all. – Jacob Hornberger

    3. Ron Paul Would Jump-Start the Working Class

Again, Summer accurately describes Ron Paul’s positions regarding the working class, yet the conclusion “Ron Paul would be disastrous for the working class” is incorrect. First off, Ron Paul would get rid of a lot of the red tape which forces businesses to keep capital and human resources in foreign countries. As such, it would be easier to start and maintain a small business.

Furthermore, these businesses (especially technical/engineering firms) would receive a spark of extremely capable soldiers who would be coming home from war looking for work. Unemployment would decrease as productivity and revenue increases. Perhaps most importantly, Ron Paul’s Austrian School economic perspective would provide a contrast to the Keynesian paradigm. What’s better, his adherence to property rights would dissolve or significantly reduce income taxes, possibly allowing workers to stimulate the economy further.

Wages and other considerations would be based on contractual agreements wherein the business would be pressured, but not forced, to adhere to common standards. Mutually beneficial trade would drive the markets, and fraud would be punished by courts. Here are the related legislative links: H.R.2030, H.R.4604, H.R.736, and H.R.2720

In the capitalist society there is a place and bread for all. Its ability to expand provides sustenance for every worker. Permanent unemployment is not a feature of free capitalism. – Ludwig Von Mises

    4. Ron Paul is Against Taxation

Ideally, he is against any and all taxation. In fact, the libertarian position on taxation explains that it is an immoral use of initiatory force. To him, it is theft. Contrary to Summer’s empty claim “Ron Paul’s tax plan is unfair to lower earners and would greatly benefit those with the highest incomes,” Ron Paul recognizes the need for gradual transition and has supported the flat tax as a step in the right direction.

His tax plan would arguably benefit low-income earners, without hindering the growth of small businesses. The rich would be able to create more jobs, adding support to the working class (3). This would do-away with tax brackets as implemented by President Wilson, and replace it with a flat percentage across the board.

Each individual would pay, say, 10-15%, of their wealth to fund the reduced government. Other immoral taxes (sales, property, etc.) would be reduced and discarded in time, and the result would be that individuals would be able to keep the money that they earn fairly through their labor, potentially paving the path to the goal: voluntary funding of government. As the dollar strengthens and inflation decreases due to Paul’s repeal of the ’71 ban of Gold/Silver as legal tender, citizens would have more money to spend, the stock market would increase, and our GDP would increase in the long-run. Above all else, Ron Paul is intellectually consistent. Please see this link for more information: H.R.05484 Summary

Taxation of earnings from labor is on a par with forced labor. Seizing the results of someone’s labor is equivalent to seizing hours from him and directing him to carry on various activities. – Robert Nozick

    5. Ron Paul is Environmentally Friendly

Again, Summer accurately defines Ron Paul’s positions, yet comes to outrageous conclusions: “Ron Paul’s policies would cause irreparable damage to our already strained environment.” Ron Paul is all for protecting the environment, but he does not believe it is the role of government to regulate it. A federal agency need not violate the Constitution and tax individuals in order to reduce emissions. Individuals have the capability to reduce their impact on the environment on their own.

Offshore oil drilling and eliminating wars over oil supply would not only increase our productivity without adverse environmental effects, but it would reduce domestic energy costs. This productivity would assist in developing more-efficient alternative energies like solar or wind as well as other innovative, green technologies. Private individuals conduct lawsuits against polluting agencies, and businesses would benefit from environmental incentives. Please follow these links: H.R.2504,H.R.7079, H.R.7245, H.R.2415, H.R.393, H.R.4639, H.R.5293, and H.R.6936.

The threat posed by humans to the natural environment is nothing compared to the threat to humans posed by global environmental policy. – Fred L. Smith

    6. Ron Paul Would Improve Foreign Relations

Summer proclaims the following “A Ron Paul administration would continue to proliferate the negative image of the US among other nations.” To the contrary: Ron Paul’s non-interventionist foreign policy is a huge advantage to his campaign. The US is presently involved in all sorts of global conflicts which cost us trillions of dollars every year. Bringing this money home, and more importantly, bringing our troops home would have a profound positive impact on our nation.

I find it interesting that our troops donate more to Ron Paul’s campaign than they do to any other candidate. Citing the history of the Vietnam war, Ron Paul supports a phased withdrawal from any unjust war, effective immediately. The US has a negative reputation abroad because of its presumed role as a “global cop,” and this image would improve as we withdraw.

More importantly, relations with the Middle East and China would drastically ameliorate upon leaving the UN, which is globally seen as costly and ineffective. A removal of the US from NATO would also stimulate our economy, and foreign trade and exportation of US goods would be at new highs internationally. Rationally, we have no business meddling in the affairs of others, just as the government has no business in our private affairs (2). Please see the following links: H.R.3891,H.AMDT.191, H.AMDT.190, H.R.3769, H.R.1665, H.CON.RES.23, and H.R.1154.

Of all the enemies to public liberty, war is perhaps the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes; and armies, debts, and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few … No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare. – James Madison

    7. Ron Paul Leaves Marriage to the States

Homosexuality and marriage is not a federal issue. Summer claims the following: “Ron Paul discriminates on the basis of sexual orientation and would not provide equal rights and protections to GLBT citizens,” citing his defense of marriage. Of particular interest is her quote from the legislation he proposed in which he “prohibits the expenditure of Federal funds to any organization which presents male or female homosexuality as an acceptable alternative life style.” Summer takes this statement and immediately jumps to attack Ron Paul on a personal front, saying that he personally discriminates on the basis of sexual orientation. This is markedly her worst misrepresentation of Ron Paul. Like abortion (2), Ron Paul will ultimately leave gay marriage up to the states, even though he disagrees. Please note, however, that his proposed legislation primarily concerned the use of money. The federal government has no right to spend our money on social issues of any kind. See: H.R.7955.

These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. – Thomas Paine

    8. Ron Paul Strongly Supports the Second Amendment

The federal government is necessary as it has a legal monopoly on retaliatory force. The police cannot be present every time to prevent a crime from being committed. We have a responsibility for our own life, and we cannot expect government to protect us at all times.

The Second Amendment not only defends men from other men, but men from government. The only proper role of government involves military, police, and court systems as means of establishing justice. If man is to have property, he is to own himself as well as the fruits of his labor. This also indicates that he bears the primary responsibility to defend himself from any aggressor.

In a libertarian society, an individual is free to have whatever arms he or she wishes, but that does not come without social costs, pressures, cautions from others. Weaponry will be made legal in proportion to many geopolitical factors, such as population density and strength of weapon. Ron Paul will not strengthen gun control laws as a means of ensuring that individuals can protect themselves. Mind you, that the use of initiatory force is illegal and immoral, and will be punished severely.

Further, there is no strong correlation between gun control laws and lower murder rates. Modeling Switzerland, the US can expect to see a decrease in crime rates if Ron Paul’s ideas are implemented according to the Constitution. Please view the following links: H.R.2424, H.R.1897, H.R.1096,H.R.407, H.R.1147, and H.R.3892.

If you would not confront your neighbor and demand his money at the point of a gun to solve every new problem that may appear in your life, you should not allow the government to do it for you. – William E. Simon

    9. Ron Paul Will Privatize Education

Summer protests that “Ron Paul would butcher our already sad educational system.” Damn right he will! The public education system is very sad, indeed. Ron Paul will scrap the federal system entirely (albeit gradually) and let the free market take its course. Privatized education would not look like the private schools today.

Access to education would be at all-time highs due to competition among schools. Incentives would be given to students which may motivate them to learn, and better educated workers would result to meet the demands of business. Teachers would be better compensated and their wages would increase as a function of their work. A quick look at the educational system in Holland and the Netherlands would allow for vouchers to be given to students who could not afford education, and the result would be a low-cost high-value education. Further, education would not be compulsory.

Ron Paul affirms that education is a privilege, not a right. See: H.R.7955.

It’s not an endlessly expanding list of rights – the “right” to education, the “right” to health care, the “right” to food and housing. That’s not freedom, that’s dependency. Those aren’t rights, those are the rations of slavery – hay and a barn for human cattle. – Alexis De Tocqueville

    That's all, folks.
    10. Ron Paul Respects Freedom of (and from) Religion.

Finally, the subject of which I wrote about in my last article. Summer says “Ron Paul is opposed to the separation of church and state,” in an attempt to polarize potential non-Christian voters. It is evident that Ron Paul’s personal preferences on abortion and gay marriage come from his Baptist background, yet they do not impact his politics.

On social issues, he leaves the controversy up to the states. While he personally is religious (see his “Statement of Faith”), it is a totally private issue to him — unlike Santorum. Summer speculates that he would allow this to impact his decision-making, yet there is no evidence to this effect.

His commitment to liberty would most likely lead him to reject any federal mandate which affirms “teaching the controversy” between Intelligent Design and Evolution. Ron Paul continues to respect the separation of church and state, despite his faith in God. Any atheist or politically secular theist can respect this approach. Actually, look at the similarities between Ron Paul’s and Darwin’s personal beliefs of God and Evolution. See: H.R.7955.

The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg. – Thomas Jefferson

Conclusion: Listen to how Dr. Paul conveys his message: it is regarding the “PROPER ROLE OF GOVERNMENT” or “USE OF FEDERAL FUNDS” instead of any political tactic to gain support. To ignore this is to misinterpret Ron Paul’s message. To my readers, I encourage you to support Ron Paul or any third-party in the upcoming election. Or, just don’t vote.
