Will Mitt Romney's Bizarre Mormon Belief's Hurt His Chances Of Being Elected ?
Lets examine a few of those and see what you think

1 Multiple worlds with multiple Gods. They believe that God created many planets with many people and each planet has its own God. They go further to say that if you are good and special you can also become a God of your own planet. Did the Mormons create multi level marketing?

2 Forgiveness. The Mormons believe that you can be forgiven of any sin except murder and denying the Holy Spirit. God is forgiving, until the second coming. After that, No more! You get what you get, so take care of your bad stuff now, before it is too late.

3 There are multiple heavens. There are actually three according to the Mormon doctrine. One for those that do just ok, one for those that do better than average, and one for those that are really, really good. Sounds kind of like a report card to me A B C what kind of student are you?

4. Priesthood. They believe that any worthy male can be given priesthood and have assigned duties. They did not allow this privilege to black men until 1978. Women are not allowed in the priesthood.

5. Jesus visited America. The Mormons believe that there were spiritual things taking place in America at the same time Jesus rose from the grave and visited his decuples. The belief is that he visited Bountiful, Utah.

6. Modern Revelation. The Mormons believe that the elected prophet of the time gets visits from god and gives him directions. The Mormons have a convention 2 xs per year and the prophet tells them what the big man said. These are just a few of the things that they believe, God Bless those all in all they do.

Quite possibly, although what is written here is accurate there are a lot of people out there who have misconceptions about the faith. I'm willing to wager that there are people who believe that if Romney gets elected, the first thing he'll do is bring back polygamy

It's gonna happen. As someone else said, Obama is too decent but the SuperPacs, probably not. Obama KNOWS what it is to have his faith attacked. But when it does happen it will be pissed and moaned about by the right all the while defending what they did to Obama in 2008.

Does anyone think that Romney stopped the Ricketts ad on Obama and Jeremiah Wright out of decency? Hell, no! He KNEW if that can of worms were opened on Obama it would be returned. It terrified him!

Being from the Southwest I know a thing or two about the Mormon religion. I cannot speak for what is in a person's heart regarding the acceptance of Christ and whether they are Christian. That is for God to decide. Still, I know the foundations of the church. Check this out...

Can’t think of any explanation for this kind of bed in Warren Jeffs’ Temple. This has every appearance of being a ceremonial or ritual bed — for activities that are observed by various and multiple kneeling others.

Now I know many will cry, "That is the Fundamentalists!" Yeah, but it is STILL from where the current LDS originated. I guess Mormonism is an "evolving" religion

“Now I know many will cry, ‘That is the Fundamentalists!’ Yeah, but it is STILL from where the current LDS originated.”

Nope. Despite the name, the FLDS are spin-offs from the LDS, not the other way around.

If you’re going to use the FLDS to slam the mainstream LDS, then the Baptists (all of them) have to answer for the Westboro Baptist Church and their actions.

Well, you can spin it that way if you wish. The fundamentalists split because of the evolution of the LDS when they were forced to make decisions regarding fundamental beliefs such as polygamy. Polygamy is what stands behind the imprisonment of women and marriage to young girls. Joseph Smith was a polygamist.

    http://www.exmormon.org/mormo... (Site by an ex-Mormon)
http://www.wivesofjosephsmith... (Site literally uses the LDS as source in bibliography)

Joseph Smith also claimed Jesus was a polygamist.
"Yes, the Mormon Church has taught that Jesus was married and a polygamist. Church President Joseph F. Smith taught that at the marriage in Cana at Galilee, Jesus was the Bridegroom and Mary and Martha the brides. (Wilford Woodruff Journal, July 22, 1883)"
    http://www.i4m.com/think/hbo-...

I stand by my original post. The fundamentalists took the name of "Fundamentalists" and separate from LDS due to pressure from the US government regarding their fundamental beliefs.

    fun·da·men·tal·ism (fnd-mntl-zm) n.
    1. A usually religious movement or point of view characterized by a return to fundamental principles, by rigid adherence to those principles, and often by intolerance of other views and opposition to secularism.

No spin. I said that despite the name (yes, I know what “fundamentalism” is, and I’m well aware that the LDS faith was polygamist [still is in its actual doctrines, though the mainstream faith no longer practices it]), the specific sect (FLDS) that your post was ranting about had split off from the mainstream faith, not the other way around. That is simple historical fact.

The founders of the FLDS officially established their apostate “Council of Friends” (their replacement for the LDS Council of the Twelve Apostles) in 1932 and were formally excommunicated from the mainstream LDS faith in 1935.

The mainstream LDS faith is no more accountable for what the FLDS does than the Pope is for what extremist Protestants such as the WBC does.

Like most Americans, Romney doesn't take his religious beliefs seriously....and so they will have little impact on the campaign....with one possible exception, the Christian Right. These folks take their religion too seriously and should religion become a campaign issue, e.g., should Romney attack Reverend Wright, he is likely to lose these Evangelical Christians.

Obama's reelection campaign is shaping up in fascinating ways....Romney can't go negative on religion because he is a Mormon; he can't go negative on health care because of the Massachusetts healthcare law he passed; he can't go negative on Obama's private sector experience because that makes Bain Capital an issue... he can't go negative on defense because of the low cost cyber war being waged against Iran.

Romney may need to run an affirmative campaign and actually tell the American people what he wants to do as president. This could be one of the best campaigns of my lifetime...two candidates describing how they will make America a better place rather than two candidates teaching Americans to hate each other.
