Romney: “Of course I’ll win, I’m the white guy”

What could have been a game changing moment in Mitt Romney’s campaign turned into a horrendous gaffe Tuesday afternoon when the former governor was having lunch with a few of his supporters. Romney was hoping to show America how well he relates to the average working American by having a press recorded lunch at a local pancake house in rural Kentucky where the primary elections were taking place. However, what turned from a nice preplanned lunch with “common-folk conversation” ended up getting off track when one of Romney’s supporters asked him how he was so certain he would win. Romney turned to the man seated on his left and seemingly forgetting the ten plus reporters in the room said, “Well between you and me, we have to think about the reality of the situation. Obama is a popular guy and his supporters are hell-bent in getting him reelected. There is one thing that his campaign seems to keep forgetting over and over, and that is how many Americans can’t stand the guy for an obvious reason. Of course I’ll win, I’m the white guy.

The Romney supporter looked at Romney with a look of agreement yet bewilderment. The chatter within the room got quite loud as reporters grabbed at their phones and took rapid notes. It’s not every day that a candidate is so brutally honest with his supporters.

One of Romney’s aides quickly tapped the former governor on the shoulder and whispered something into his ear. Romney’s face had a stone cold expression that can only be described as terrified. After talking with his aide for a minute or so, Romney turned back to the table and smiled saying, “It’s a good thing we all know how to take a joke here, huh? Of course the reason that I know I’m going to win in because I’m the guy that will stand up for true conservative values and economic prosperity. Which of course is what the American people will want come November.”

After Romney finished speaking he stood up from the table and was ushered outside to a waiting car. In hopes that he was able to successfully spin his verbal gaffe, Romney made sure to get a spot on Fox News’ Hannity as soon as possible to further clear up any “liberal spin” that may occur.

Only time will tell if he can recover from this clear opinion of his true beliefs in why he thinks he will win this upcoming November.

Come on! Was he really dumb enough to make that statement! I can't believe our country is so misguided that they will elect him with all the craziness that he has been spouting! He really is totally out of touch with the common person! I pray that our country is better than this.

They say President Obama has done nothing? WOW! How blind! How biased! Also, realize whatever he HAS accomplished has been with more opposition than ANY president has ever faced! How do you get anything done when the entire other party, which is also supposed to be concerned about all the people in our country, are bound and determined from day one to BLOCK everything you try to do. Suppose the Republicans had honestly tried to find some workable ground. Imagine what could have been accomplished. They cared NOTHING about pushing the country FURTHER to the brink in their effort to destroy this President! HMMMM! I wonder why?

Also, wouldn't it be great if all the billions of dollars that are being spent on crazy politicking was actually spent on improving the economy in our country. WOW! What a difference that could make!

I pray that people will really look into their own hearts and see what hidden hatred lies there! I pray that we will really listen to who cares about this country!

Oh, yes, I want to see Mitt Romney's birth certificate! I can't believe he was born in MY city!

I think there will be a fair amount of people who voted for McCain and would vote for Romney because he is white. There are more people that will vote for either Obama or Romney because they agree with their politics. Racism is always going to play a part in this type of match up. The real test for America would be if we had two black candidates for President. Don't think that's going to happen anytime soon.

No, the main reason Obama won, was because people were pissed off at Bush. Obama's presidency was a sheer luck of being at the right place at the right time. It had nothing to do with experience or intelligence. Sorry to say, but he did get lots of votes just because he is black. I have black friends who told me that. Thanks to the mainstream media, majority of the people had no idea of the radical person Obama really is.

No, Obama wasn't running against Bush. It was McCain...
It was not because the Bush administration was a disaster, it was because McCain & Palin were Jokes.

There were more registered Republican voters in the US.

It was the GOP who did not want McCain or he'd be President. GOP Failed.

Everyone already knows that The New York times is a joke, they are partially to blame for the demise of America. They always covered up for Obama, yet took any little negative story about McCain or Palin and ran crazy with it. They exaggerated and manipulated the stories, to make McCain and Palin look incompetent. The New York times is corrupt and they play dirty. I am sure Obama has already bailed them out, without letting the tax payers know, because last I heard they were going bankrupt. I mean, who wants to buy a newspaper that is usually not credible. I really don't care about anything they have to say. The 2008 presidential election was close. Obama had his hoodlums like Acorn etc., cheating for him and stealing the election. In New Mexico, tons of democrats did not know Obama's past, thanks to the mainstream media. These same people already know Obama and his gangster style friends and they will not be fooled again!

Whether or not its the NY times posting 2008 candidates or Fox News your opinion of the NY times still does not change the fact that George Bush was not in the election running against Obama in 2008.

He was finishing his second term and was not eligible.

The GOP lost because they choose not to vote for McCain and bimbo... pure and simple... Of course the independent were rallying for other candidates and some didnt vote for president at all... The GOP LOST Because it chose to not vote for McCain, Just as Romney will lose this election, because they will choose not to vote for him.

You can make all the excuses you want why Obama won the election, None of them were the reason why I voted for him, the final nail in the 2008 GOP Bid for presidency's coffin was delivered by the GOP party itself.

The pols are there... Look at em...See the 2008 polls, Dems aren't gonna make the same mistake they did in 2010 by abstaining from voting, their anger at the Obama administration cost them dearly in representation and policy in 2010.

I use to work for another very large metropolitan newspaper at the time we were the largest daily newspaper in the USA, at best we printed 1.5 million papers a day.
How a large newspaper could change everyone's mind across this great country were it makes only enough papers to reach 0.03% is giving them a little more credit then they deserve.

oh i saw it and he is correct. so we know its not because of some insane reality where he has done something radical. So hmmmm i wonder what the real problem is with Obama, i have to opinions on this. One is that he is a democrat and republicans believe they are the only ones who should be holding public office and the other one is, that he is black. Oh the horror of a black president, he will enslave all the white people and sell parts of this country to communist Africans. Oh wait that would be Idaho with its republican governor who sold about 50 miles worth of Idaho land to communist China for a self sustaining community.

The important issues to republicans are as follows - a christian only nation - no freedom of religion. A country without gays because they are an abomination. A supposed christian country that does not give a damn about their fellow man - let them starve and die. (sounds real christian to me). They claim they love freedom but want to tell you what you can and cannot do in your bedroom. They claim freedom but are offended by mere words and want to censor them. Integrity? Not a word to describe any republican. Theocrat is accurate.
